Day One seeks an energetic and creative social worker with an interest in program management to serve as Day One’s Associate Director of School-Based Services. The Associate Director of School-Based Services must have an LCSW in the state of New York. 

The principal duties of the Associate Director of School-Based Services include clinical and administrative supervision, program design, implementation, and evaluation of the RAPP program. The Associate Director will oversee the work of eight social workers (RAPP Coordinators) working onsite in NYC public high schools. In addition to fulfilling responsibilities related to program management and clinical supervision, the selected candidate will assist in development of materials and outreach strategy for the Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP), and assist with other Day One projects as assigned.

The RAPP program principally involves 1) the development and delivery of a healthy relationships curriculum addressing dating abuse, domestic violence and the law, sexual assault/consent and coercion to youth, caregivers, and school-based professionals; 2) Delivery of individual and group counseling and supportive services to young survivors of dating violence, witnesses, and affected youth as individuals and in groups; and 3) Coordination of a summer Peer Leadership Program

The Associate Director of School-Based Services works in a dynamic and collaborative environment and is responsible for both their own team and organization-wide strategy. About Day One 

Since 2003, Day One has been the only organization in New York devoting its full resources to preventing intimate partner violence (IPV) among young people. Day One partners with youth to end dating abuse and domestic violence through community education, supportive services, legal advocacy and leadership development. Our multi-disciplinary approach brings together a highly collaborative staff with expertise in legal assistance, social services, and education service provision. Through RAPP, Day One provides clinical care and education to young people in schools concerning the areas of intimate partner violence, consent, and healthy relationships and educates school staff and caregivers on how to support young people experiencing abuse.

Day One recognizes that anti-violence work is emotionally demanding and professionally complex. We strive to create an office culture that invests in the wellness of staff and leads to employee sustainability. Office policies are designed to promote healthful practices and establish a supportive and collaborative environment for and among staff. 

Program Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide support to the RAPP Coordinators in execution of school-based programs and the Summer Peer Leadership program
  • Provide clinical supervision - group and individual, and facilitate weekly team meetings
  • Develop and maintain relationships with officials and administrators of schools, the Department of Education, the Human Resources Administration, ENDGBV, other providers administering RAPP, and additional related organizations. 
  • Assist in tracking program data through a Salesforce database and implementation of measurement tools
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly program reports
  • Work in concert with Day One Leadership to develop and manage the annual Day One budget for RAPP
  • Represent Day One at community-based events, panels, conferences and occasional media opportunities
  • Deliver occasional trainings for professionals related to youth IPV
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend meetings or presentations
  • Other related duties as assigned

Organizational Leadership Responsibilities

  • Engage in open and effective communication and serve as a spokesperson for Day One internally, with the board of directors, within coalitions, and in a range of settings, such as legislative hearings, conferences, funder meetings, press conferences, and media interviews.
  • Support the development team in applying for funding and managing outcome goals 
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain an appropriate balance between transparency, confidentiality, and boundaries 
  • Support program planning in light of financial sustainability and organizational health
  • Support financial planning in light of programmatic needs and organizational health
  • Help ensure that all positions are filled with qualified staff who have what they need to succeed in their positions and assist with onboarding of new staff
  • Coordination of clinical supervision of agency LMSW and LCSW staff and overall professional development of social work staff in partnership with other agency LCSWs
  • Partner with staff to fulfill the mission through high-quality program design, effective implementation, and thoughtful strategic planning
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and feedback to staff, enabling them to deliver programs, fulfill their job descriptions, and achieve professional growth
  • Contribute to vision and strategic direction for the organization; and help determine policies, systems, and practices to reduce silos and permit the entire organization to thrive and grow
  • Help identify and evaluate the risks to and opportunities for the organization
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise and ability to communicate and educate others about Day One 
  • Operate with the best interests of all teams and the organization in mind
  • Contribute to staff meetings, retreats, and other internal meetings with appropriate content, views and suggestions, maintaining necessary discretion and confidentiality
  • Contribute to maintenance of office and facilities that enable efficient and equipped operations

Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State
  • 3+ years of managerial experience working in a highly collaborative environment and supervising a diverse and dynamic staff
  • 1+ years of experience providing clinical supervision
  • Experience working with adolescents/teens and intimate partner violence
  • Experience working in school-based programs or youth development-focused CBOs
  • Facility working with diverse groups of youth, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender-identified youth; immigrant youth; individuals in crisis; low-income communities; youth in care, etc.
  • Demonstrated anti-oppressive supervision skills and commitment to anti-racist practice principles
  • Training and curriculum development experience desirable
  • Commitment to the empowerment of young people
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative setting
  • Exceptional written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Experience with MS Office, Google Workspace,Word, Excel, and database systems
  • SIFI certification desirable
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable
