Synopsis:             

La Clinica del Pueblo (LCDP), a leading Community Health Center, Winner of the 2016 NASW Agency of the Year Award, and a leading organization in providing Tele-Psychiatric and tele-Mental Health services in DC and Maryland, is seeking a licensed and bilingual (English/Spanish) LGSW/LMSW clinician to join our growing Mental Health team in Washington, DC. and Prince George's County, Maryland. This full-time position will provide assessment and treatment services as needed to a diverse population. Quality patient care, patient satisfaction and teamwork toward the enhancement of the program are the primary goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health counseling and therapy to adults, adolescents, and children and families either by face to face or through telemental health. 
  • Provide mental health counseling and therapy using different theoretical approaches (Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, psychodynamic) according to client need.
  • Lead or co-lead either adolescent or child group in Mi Familia program during evening
  • Provide mental health counseling in assign locations.
  • Provide mental health assessments to clients referred by other programs through Triage system and recommend appropriate treatment based on results.
  • Assist client in accessing outside services when it is determined that s/he is not an appropriate referral for outpatient treatment at LCDP.
  • Provides Clinical Care Coordination to VAV program which may include communication with case managers, and other providers within LDCP and/or outside providers.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed. Ensure that measures are taken to protect safety of client and staff.
  • Develop treatment plans for each client based on their mental health diagnosis and psychosocial needs. 
  • Implement identified screening and evaluation tools as required per program.
  • Follow departmental protocol for clinical documentation, as well as tracking of appointments in eCW system.
  • Attend to inter-disciplinary meetings as directed by Clinical Mental Health Manager and Department’s Director.
  • Provide monthly data reports as requested by Department Director and Clinical Mental Health Manager.
  • Participate in community activities as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away and more than a few feet away.
  • Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.
  • Focus on one source of sound and ignore others.


Qualification Mental Health Therapist I

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology from accredited university, required.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical work experience providing individual, family and group therapy to Latino population, required.
  • Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic Therapies, preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, required.
  • Good English writing skills, required.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience, required.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed in DC or MD as LGSW /LMSW/ LGPC, required.             

 

Qualification Mental Health Therapist II

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology from accredited university, required.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical work experience providing individual, family and group therapy to Latino population, required.
  • Be licensed at the LICSW/LPC level in MD, required.
  • Be able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment serving pts that have complex social, psychological and medical needs, required.
  • Function well as a team player within the medical team, collaborating with medical assistants, providers and other staff members within the Patient Services and MH/SA Department, required.
  • Basic knowledge of evidence-based behavioral assessments and interventions relevant to medical conditions, e.g., disease management; treatment adherence; and lifestyle change, preferred.
  • Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments and initial diagnosis, required.
  • Be flexible and positive when dealing with frequent interruptions, scheduling changes and space sharing in collaboration with medical team members, including providers, MA’s, and reception, required.
  • Have experience providing behavioral-focused and solution-focused interventions (usually lasting 20 minutes or less) within a short-term framework of three to five sessions or less, preferred.
  • Be a good team player, required.
  • Be able to perform consultations and give provider feedback on the fly, required.
  • Proficiency in the identification and treatment of mental disorders, required.
  • Be competent in knowledge of local resources for outside referrals, preferred.
  • Be able to document in electronic medical record, required.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, required.
  • Good English writing skills, required.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience, required.
