As Oak Hill’s Grant Writer, you will have the unique opportunity to help build impactful programs, as well as help launch new initiatives by identifying and submitting compelling grant applications to foundation, corporate and government (local, state and federal) funders. This role is part of a dynamic development team that collaborates with program and administrative teams across the agency to build resources for programs that support people with disabilities throughout the state of Connecticut. 

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with exceptional grant writing, organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and build strong relationships at all levels of an organization.

Salary range is: $65,000 – 70,000. Resume and cover letter are required.

 

Minimum Requirements:   

  • Four-year degree preferred but can be substituted for relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years grant writing experience for private foundation, corporations and government grants required.
  • Experience with Governmental grants (State and Federal) preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and synthesize data and information into coherent and comprehensive concepts and communicate them in writing. 
  • Strong project management skills; highly organized, excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and task-oriented, with the ability to work independently and effectively maneuver between multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic and team-based environment.
  • Ability to use good judgment when carrying out responsibilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, professional relationships with all internal and external contacts.

Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Grant Writing
  • Draft and submit all grant and funding requests to foundation, corporate, and government funders, as well as final reports
  • Collaborate with program and/or administrative teams to collect necessary information to craft proposals with compelling storytelling and data-driven needs statements
  • Write, revise, edit, and organize proposal drafts including cover letters, executive summaries, budget narratives, and supporting documents as required by the funder
  • Work with Finance, Programs and Grants team to gather financial, outcome and other information necessary for proposals and reports
  • Gather additional information through research to support funding proposals
  • Obtain final approval by reviewing proposals with Director of Innovation and Grants and key program personnel.

 

  • Grants Project Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with grant funders
  • Research and identify potential new funding sources based on Oak Hill’s needs in collaboration with the Grants Team
  • Ensure on-time submission of all grant applications and reports, gathering input from stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized records of funders and application materials: proposals, reports, communications to/from foundations, organization contacts, etc.
  • Work with Grants Team to create a grant application timeline that clearly articulates grant information gathering process for all internal stakeholders
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and submission.
  • Work with Development and Communications teams to provide impact information for various communication channels, including: intranet, print materials, social media, newsletters, etc.
