Programs and Communications Manager

Job Summary:


The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s (AGF) mission is to make young voices and votes a powerful force in our democracy. To advance this mission, the Program and Communications Manager will manage and mentor Andrew Goodman Campuses within the Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere program. The Programs and Communications Manager will also serve as a liaison between the Programs and Communications departments to ensure that AGF’s programs are supported with impactful storytelling. The Program and Communications Manager will report directly to the Director of Programs and work regularly with the Director of Communications. 


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


Programs Communications and Marketing

  • Align and partner with key internal and external AGF stakeholder—including the Programs and Development teams, Andrew Goodman Ambassadors, Campus Champions, Fellows, and Alumni—to develop marketing campaigns that support AGF’s mission and showcase the success of AGF’s key stakeholders 
  • Work with the Director of Communications and AGF senior leadership team to develop and implement a communications and marketing plan for the Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere program, as well as for the annual National Civic Leadership Training Summit (NCLTS)
  • Share AGF’s Brand Guide and support the Andrew Goodman Network with usage of the AGF brand, particularly as media opportunities arise
  • Write and send weekly Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere newsletters and other e-blasts to Ambassadors or Campus Champions as needed, as well as maintain relevant email lists
  • Work with the Operations team to develop a content library, index, and methodology to collect, store, manage, and report on stakeholder stories from the Andrew Goodman Network 
  • Write blog posts and student stories for internal and external audiences
  • Develop educational resources and toolkits as needed
  • Oversee the maintenance of pages on AGF’s website related to the Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere program and NCLTS
  • Drive Andrew Goodman Network engagement through organic and paid communications channels and support virtual and live events  
  • Manage the distribution of swag and other marketing materials
  • Brainstorm and coordinate other marketing campaigns to build brand awareness for Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere on Andrew Goodman Campuses
  • Collect stories and successes from the AGF’s digital engagement campaign 
  • Attend Communications team meetings
  • Coordinate and/or oversee external communications and marketing vendors
  • Proactively ideate and propose new approaches for compelling stakeholder engagement programs that support AGF’s mission 
  • Present periodically on program performance and learnings to key stakeholders


Programs

  • Manage and mentor a portfolio of Andrew Goodman Campuses (approx. 15), including student Ambassadors and staff Campus Champions, to advance a lasting on-campus culture of civic engagement 
  • Onboard, integrate, and manage new Andrew Goodman Campuses as needed
  • Research and stay updated on the democratic landscape, including national and state voting laws and processes
  • Identify, plan, and manage select state-based advocacy or education campaigns
  • Support Ambassadors on special projects, events, and campaigns
  • Support Andrew Goodman Campuses to effectively utilize my.VoteEverywhere and SimpleTexting to expand reach and impact of Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere on campus
  • Support the tracking and dissemination of Andrew Goodman Campuses’ Activity Budget grants and Ambassadors’ stipends
  • Report on Andrew Goodman Campuses’ challenges, successes, and overall performance
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with campus administrators, election officials, and on- and off-campus partners 
  • Work with the Programs team to identify, design, and present trainings, like the annual National Civic Leadership Training Summit 
  • Attend Programs team meetings
  • Work with the Director of Digital Strategy and Advocacy to engage campuses on the digital track of the program through the AGF Digital Community
  • Activate and mentor members of AGF’s This Gen Advocacy Network 
  • Work with the Director of Digital Strategy and Advocacy to produce digital program content 


Special Demands

  • Conduct site visits as needed, pending ability to travel safely
  • Represent the AGF at relevant civic engagement, voting rights, and higher education conferences


Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree 


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Excellent writing and communication skills and the ability to articulate messages to diverse audiences, including internal and external, via numerous channels
  • Prior experience with investigative journalism and/or conducting informational interviews for the purpose of developing compelling stories and narratives to be presented across different form factors preferred
  • A passion for civic engagement; civil and voting rights; social justice; and diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Commitment to youth organizing and student leadership development, especially in a higher education setting
  • Voter registration and grassroots organizing experience 
  • Experience with digital organizing
  • A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Excellent ability to identify stories and frame them to show programmatic and organizational impact 
  • Affinity for working with a young audience
  • Incredibly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated 
  • Able to work independently and be a team player
  • Experience with Google Drive, Dropbox, Zoom, Asana, Slack, and SurveyMonkey
  • Knowledge of Canva, WordPress, and Salsa Engage preferred


Other Requirements:


  • Daily access to high-speed reliable internet 
  • Available on evenings and weekends for occasional events and conference
