JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Job Title: Development Manager

Position: Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Development Director Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

Start date: January 4, 2022 Work Location: Flexible

Position Summary:

The National Domestic Workers Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit that organizes domestic workers in the United States to advance respect, recognition, and labor standards. We work to guarantee labor protections for domestic workers by winning legislation at the state level, pushing for regulatory changes at the national level, through the International Labor Organization at the global level, and elevating domestic workers as key leaders in building a powerful movement for social and global justice. The Alliance formed in 2007 at the US Social Forum and currently represents 70+ affiliates in 20 states nationally.

Care in Action is a 501c4 nonprofit group dedicated to fighting for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers in the United States, most of whom are women of color. Founded in 2016, Care in Action provides the tools, training, and community that working families need to make their voices heard, and organize and advocate for respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections.

We seek a highly organized, creative, and relationship-driven Development Manager to serve as a member of the Development team, and to play a central role in the successful implementation of the annual fundraising strategy for the movement building program and activities led by NDWA and Care In Action, including c3 civic engagement and c4 activities. A consummate project manager, the Development Manager will establish and maintain core infrastructural components of the strategy including data management and acknowledgement processes, as well as contribute to annual campaigns and special events. The Development Manager will also support grant writing and management, and cultivate a portfolio of donors. This position offers an opportunity to learn about all aspects of our fundraising while helping to adapt and build systems to meet evolving needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive large projects like donor appeals, discrete fundraising campaigns, state- and program-specific drives, proposals, and grant reports, ensuring that deadlines are met and content is generated by numerous people across teams
  • Coordinate with Database Administrator to create and implement data management systems in Salesforce; ensure that donor and funder contact information, contributions, and interactions are properly processed and recorded; and create and generate reports and data analysis
  • Support the development and submission of grant proposals and reports for our overall portfolio with a focus on political, policy, and civic engagement programs
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors, acting as primary point of connection and coordinating all communication, cultivation, stewardship and recognition
  • Support research and prospecting for new funding opportunities, particularly in the seven states where Care in Action runs year-round programs
  • Contribute to the fundraising calendars, monthly reconciliations, and fiscal year audit processes
  • Participate in other activities as needed, including organization-wide activities such as retreats, monthly meetings and staff study
  • Travel requirement, when safe and the organization resumes travel: 10%
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years previous employment experience in nonprofit development
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team, in a fast-paced, experimental organization
  • Experience in both c4 and PAC fundraising contexts strongly preferred, though not required
  • Demonstrated success identifying, cultivating, securing, and growing a portfolio of donors
  • Demonstrated success in creating effective messaging and materials for donors and funders, including digital appeals, direct appeals, grant proposals, and grant reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Knowledge of CRM operations; Salesforce experience a major plus
  • Alignment with NDWA’s vision and values
  • Understanding of issues facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and other communities of color
  • Belief in the leadership and political power of women of color, especially Black and Indigenous women
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed

Women, people of color, people with disabilities and LGBTQ people strongly urged to apply. Applications will only be accepted electronically. Please submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to https://domesticworkers.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=206 by November 26, 2021.
