About the Organization & Program

Open Architecture Collaborative, Inc. (OAC) has two main programs, the volunteer chapter network, for which the OAC serves as fiscal sponsor and Pathways to Equity (P2E) professional development programming. P2E is a program of OAC, a California-based non-profit that creates opportunities for designers to engage with and provide support through community engaged practice. Pathways to Equity provides leadership and professional development resources to architects and designers to engage in community based work. P2E is an in-person experience based in Oakland and San Francisco, and a virtual program that runs three times a year. OAC also supports a network of Chapters across the USA who support non-profit organizations.

• OAC’s Annual Budget: $100,000 - $200,000 per year
• Transactions per month:  15 - 35
• One main bank account and six sub-accounts for fiscally sponsored chapters across the USA

Position Overview

We invite the Accountant to be a part of the vision, growth and team of OAC, and to work with the Director of Operations. This person thrives in a dynamic environment that leans into emergent thinking, is guided by equity in all decision-making, and embraces a collaborative approach.

About the Position

The Accountant brings a passion for social justice and design, community engagement, deepening self awareness and equity-based practice. They have a proven track record of managing organizational funds, developing organizational and programmatic budgets, developing financial forecasting and have familiarity with taxes and other compliance matters. Non-profit financial management experience is ideal, however commensurate experience within the design, for profit, and/or professional development consulting fields will be considered. They are detail-oriented and organized, and enjoy finding effective, time-saving processes for day-to-day accounting. 

This role is to be filled as soon as possible, remote and flexible work during COVID-19. OAC does not maintain a formal office. Compensation for the role will be commensurate on experience and a conversation around equity. Payment is based on a communication as necessary and quarterly deliverable schedule, approximately $800.00 per quarter and is negotiable.
