The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY is looking for a Program Assistant (Part-time/Contract)

At the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, our mission is to train journalists and media professionals at all stages of their career. Our professional development and executive education programs summarized under J+ are among the most innovative in the field, and are a constantly growing and increasingly impactful part of our portfolio. 

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Program Assistant will provide project management support to advance the continuing education programs at the Newmark J-School.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Support with the preparation and execution of two online training programs under the guidance of the program coordinator and the program director
• Work with admin and finance support staff to manage program-related funds and payments
• Collect or produce marketing and communications assets to promote program, in collaboration with the communications manager
• Organize and prep for classes by collecting outlines, slides and materials from instructors under deadline
• Set up class material and onboard students in online learning management system
• Monitor, sort and vet applications to the programs
• Schedule candidate interviews
• Be a liaison with participants during program and collect assignment, when needed
• Run and record the weekly Zoom sessions for class, including manage breakout rooms
• Collect feedback surveys and help analyze results
• Work with program assistant for clerical support

You will have: 

• Bachelor's degree 
• A passion for education and the interaction with instructors and students
• Experience managing projects for a large organization, ideally in the media and/or education space 
• Attention to detail and a talent for structure, process and administration
• Excellent communication, organizational, and technology skills  
• Experience managing confidential information

A preferred candidate will have:

• Three years experience managing projects at a large organization in the media and/or education space
• Experience working in remote/hybrid and international teams

• This position is fully remote

Compensation and benefits:

• 15-20 hours a week for an hourly rate of $30 ($1,800-2,400 per month, paid monthly)
• There are no benefits associated with this opportunity
• Three-month contract with possibility of extension
