JOB SYNOPSIS: MCC East Coast (EC) seeks a detail-oriented and teachable person to serve as the Communications Associate. The position will support the work of MCC EC Communications by assisting MCC’s programs in the EC region spanning from New York to Puerto Rico, with a strong emphasis on writing and event coordination and logistics. The position will work closely with, and be supervised by, the EC Communications Director while being immersed in the MCC U.S. Communicators Network. The position is hybrid, with a minimum of 1 day per week spent working in the MCC East Coast Ephrata Office and as needed for events and gatherings. There is some travel possible to regional offices and sites in the region for meetings, gathering stories, taking photos, or attending events. This position also serves as administrative support for the dispersed MCC EC Donor Relations staff. A collaborative approach to this position is important, given the frequent need for teamwork with Communications and Donor Relations staff as well as other EC regional staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
COMMUNICATIONS
1. Support EC Communications Coordinator with MCC EC communication channels. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
a. Write regional stories for print and web.
b. Create email-marketing campaigns and monthly church bulletin announcements and update web content.
c. Design flyers, bulletin inserts and other print and digital marketing materials
d. Assist with content editing and prepare occasional PowerPoint presentations.
e. Upload EC photos into MCC’s photo library and serve as regional photographer when needed.
f. Keep regional media contact lists up to date.
g. Secure Spanish translators for EC stories and materials.
h. Ensure MCC communications materials are stocked and available in EC offices throughout region.
2. Coordinate and schedule public MCC presentations, storytelling and displays in churches, conferences, schools, etc. Tasks include:
a. Provide logistical support for storytelling scheduling and other speaking engagement tours including tracking event speakers and participants in our donor database software (DPO).
b. Serve as EC point person for annual conference gatherings, including compiling reports, registering for gatherings, gathering materials, finding staff representative and compiling conference reflections.
c. Work toward continued education and participation by various constituent groups.
d. Speak and/or represent MCC at events.
e. Collaborate with EC Communications Director to provide communications support for MCC East Coast board meetings
3. Help EC regional programming with event strategy and logistics, including domestic and international “Learning Tours.”
4. Plan and organize MCC EC’s involvement in the Extraordinary Give.
5. Update church and conference information annually in DPO.
6. Serve as EC point person for exhibits and display sign-outs as well as pack event boxes from the Ephrata Office.
7. Ensure smooth flow of interoffice communication, including communication with other MCC offices, particularly MCC’s East Coast office in Philadelphia. This also includes:
a. Processing and coordinating delivery of incoming mail from MCC U.S.
b. Coordinating, compiling and sending weekly EC Interoffice Newsletter.
DONOR RELATIONS ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
1. Assist Donor Relations staff with mass mailings to donors.
2. Serve as EC point person in responding to and funneling church and individual contacts and requests as needed.
3. Offer occasional grant writing and reporting assistance, including support for constituent-initiated projects.
4. Update donor and constituent DPO records as needed.
5. Ensure EC Donor Relations staff are resourced with relevant and up-to-date materials for donor contacts.
6. Support Communications and Donor Relations staff with occasional events and initiatives connected with regional MCC Thrift shops.
Travel expectations: Travel up to 10% within surrounding states
