POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the OYC Director, the OYC Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for collaborating in leading complex projects and partnerships. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and goal-driven professional. The position will interact with youth, various community organizations, educational institutions, and public agencies to improve education and employment outcomes for young adults who are or have been in foster care. The Senior Project Coordinator co-leads the Young Leaders Program, oversees budget, takes lead on data collection, creates reports for presentations and web communications, authors the OYC newsletter, facilitates network for youth referrals, and maintains the OYC’s listserv, and supports the OYC team and external partners at large. 

ABOUT THE ALLIANCE

The Alliance for Children’s Rights is a nonprofit organization that provides free holistic legal services and advocacy to youth and families impacted by child welfare and juvenile justice systems in Los Angeles County, and works to enact policy changes statewide. Our lawyers, advocates, and social workers, together with hundreds of pro bono attorneys and community volunteers, work to ensure that those we serve have the tools to overcome barriers to stability and success, and access to the education, healthcare, and financial supports that they need. Since 1992, we have helped over 150,000 children. 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY YOUTH COLLABORATIVE

OYC is an exciting initiative that mobilizes cross-sector agencies, community-based programs, and investments of the Los Angeles region to improve three key outcomes for transition-age foster and cross-over probation youth (TAY), ages 16 – 24:

1.            High School Completion (graduation or GED attainment)

2.            Post-secondary enrollment and credential completion

3.            Workforce readiness and gainful employment with a living wage

OYC is based on the idea of working collaboratively to create system change and seeks to improve outcomes for foster youth in Los Angeles County.

WHAT YOUR IMPACT WILL BE

The Senior Project Coordinator will report to the OYC Director. The Senior Project Coordinator’s work includes but is not limited to:

Communications and Data:

·        Creates and disseminates reports, presentations, and web communications

·        Curate resources and create newsletter via MailChimp

·        Review and analyze data points from MailChimp to establish the effectiveness of newsletter and resources provided and meet grant deliverables

·        Develop fact sheets and update historical documents

·        Create and maintain an active presence on LA OYC social media, using Hootsuite, reply to social media inquiries, and monitor engagement of social media to meet grant deliverables

·        Maintain website by updating OYC website with convening materials, newsletters, and other relevant information as needed

·        Support OYC Staff by creating and designing PowerPoint presentations using OYC branding guidelines

·        Support partnering agencies in creating materials and documents for dissemination

·        Present data and analysis to internal OYC staff for discussion

·        Utilize Asana to track grant deliverables, meeting notes, projects, convening’s, etc.

·        Collect and manage data over the course of the year to create Annual OYC Impact Report

Convenings:

·        Create and project topic calendar for 4-10 convenings a year

·        Lead convening coordination in partnership with consultants

·        Create marketing materials via Canva

·        Managing Eventbrite and calendaring to ensure optimal attendance

·        Expertise in virtual convening platforms such as Teams and Zoom

·        Promote and outreach to key partners to ensure attendance meets grant deliverables

·        Create and disseminate the FAQ document post convening to share with partners and attendees

·        Upon return of in person meetings, coordinating will require locating meeting spaces, managing catering, organizing all items needed by presenters, etc. 

Internal and External Coordination:

·        Manage the calendars of the team to coordinate both internal and external meetings

·        Create agenda and facilitate weekly team meetings to ensure OYC is progressing on deliverables and strategies

·        Create meeting agendas for internal meetings with support from team and liaison with the policy team to co-create agendas for monthly meetings

·        Manage travel arrangements for OYC team and partners

·        Gathers and analyzes data with an understanding of data-driven program design

·        Oversee Asana to ensure strong internal communication

·        Liaise internally with the Alliance grants team regarding grants progress and deliverables

·        Act as a resource for OYC team, Alliance, and external partners

·        Upholds strong and positive working relationships with external partners

·        Act as support to OYC Director and team, in scheduling meetings, prioritizing meetings and emails, organizing records, etc. 

OYC Young Leaders:

·        Co-design Young Leaders group by developing yearly curriculum, facilitating meetings and advancing the topics and goals as identified by Young Leaders

·        Manage administrative support for Young Leaders

·        Manage OYC budget for young leaders, travel, stipends, etc.

·        Create content to promote on social media around young leader's advocacy and their advocacy passions

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS

Highly motivated professional with 5+ years of experience, ready to work in a face pace program that manages and has a vision for collective impact work to advance the needs of foster youth. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who cares about improving outcomes for transitioning foster youth in a program that focuses on systems change, healing centered design and championing lived experience of youth. 

Other qualifications include:

·        Outstanding organizational skills

·        Strong work ethic and an enthusiastic willingness to “roll up your sleeves”

·        Flexibility and ability to pivot quickly

·        Excellent written and oral skills

·        Excellent interpersonal skills and is able to work with young people

·        Advanced computer proficiency – data tracking is central to this position

·        Gifted in paying close attention to details and process – comfortable with numbers and charts

·        Excellent time management – this position entails working with various service providers, agencies, and peer advocates, often juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

·        Exceptional follow-through skills and persistence

·        Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for and commitment to helping youth

·        Impressive analytical skills – this position includes analyzing data and making decisions that affect youth on a regular basis

·        Excellent Canva, MailChimp, HootSuite, Zoom, Teams, website maintenance, Microsoft Suite, and Asana knowledge

·        Ability to work some evenings and weekends

·        Bachelor’s degree required with minimum 5+ years of project coordination experience

·        Experience in systems change, and/or youth-serving fields a plus

·        Experience with foster care or juvenile probation is helpful, but not required

Other Considerations

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, this position worked full time from our Los Angeles office. However, since the pandemic, this position has worked remotely from home and weekly work from the office to complete administrative tasks. This position may be asked to return to work in the office at any time and at the employer's discretion.

This is an exempt, full-time paid position, with a salary range of $58,000 – $63,000 annually DOE. Benefits include generous vacation and paid holidays; comprehensive health plans covering 100% of the employee cost of medical, dental and vision insurance; life insurance; flexible spending accounts for childcare and health expenses; generous retirement savings plan with company contributions to your 403(b) after one year of employment, and discounts on fitness memberships and other activities.
