Yellowstone Forever (YF) is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy. YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and

philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF’s operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; the Yellowstone Forever

Institute, which offers in-depth educational programing for people of all ages; and a supporter program which raises funds for priority park projects.

The Warehouse and Logistics Manager

plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever’s operations, overseeing receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations. Responsibilities of this position also include supervising a team in the warehouse, inventory control and reporting, and ensuring that all warehouse processes are running optimally. Success in this position requires an extremely high level of attention to detail, a service-oriented attitude, process efficiency efforts and a continual drive for improvement, the ability to multitask with ease on a variety of projects, excellent communication skills, and a close working knowledge of the Inventory Control System.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Yellowstone Forever’s Retail inventory supply chain and e-commerce fulfillment operations;
  • Responsible for the movement, tracking, and damage control of Retail inventory;
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, training of staff and management of daily schedule;
  • Develop and motivate staff to achieve optimal performance;
  • Setting benchmark performance levels for the warehouse team and ensuring that there is a continual effort to improve upon those benchmarks;
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet the changing seasonal needs of the organization;
  • Promote the highest level of customer service and foster a team-oriented environment;
  • Work closely with Purchasing Manager to develop efficient inventory delivery and store support plans;
  • Create and continually improve warehouse product flow plans with Purchasing Manager input and Director of Retail approval
  • Organize and implement zone and bin management practices; with Purchasing Manager input and Director of Retail approval
  • Develop warehouse management best practice procedures and incorporate those with the POS systems currently used
  • Collaborate with Product team on purchasing and receiving schedule to ensure inventory arrives at the right time to achieve sales goals for each store;
  • Ensure that staff is functioning at the highest level of automation and system utilization;
  • Develop and coordinate inbound freight timing and relationships with vendors;
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing Manager to develop and maintain internal controls to ensure inventory accuracy and minimize shrinkage;
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing & Digital Sales Manager and Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager to ensure systems are in place to promptly resolve discrepancies with product distribution;
  • Execute inventory replenishment orders to fulfill the needs of each store order timely to ensure optimal inventory turn and sell through levels;
  • Reconcile physical inventories and cycle counts between inventory and POS system to ensure accuracy of total inventory numbers;
  • Direct and perform inventory cycle counts within the warehouse;
  • Support the opening and closing of seasonal Park Stores;
  • Work cooperatively with other YF and NPS staff to achieve mutual goals in sales, marketing, customer service, staff training and fulfillment;
  • Develop and update as needed a safety plan and train staff as necessary to minimize risk and liability to the organization;
  • Effectively communicate relevant Inventory-related information across the organization;
  • Develop and motivate staff to achieve optimal performance;
  • Collaborates with Product team and advises
  • Purchasing Manager on product handling, packing, and shipping as considerations
  • in product selection
  • Represent Yellowstone Forever and its mission accurately and positively;
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with YF employees, volunteers, and partners;
  • Travel into Yellowstone, throughout the
  • Greater Yellowstone area and other, as required;
  • Other tasks as assigned by Purchasing & Digital Sales Manager, Director of
  • Retail, or other designated leadership.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 4 or more years of supervisory experience;
  • College degree in a related field, or equivalent experience;
  • Demonstrated organizational and inventory management skills;
  • Proven process improvement and analytical skills;
  • Warehouse workflow management and product slotting experience;
  • Experience providing excellent customer service;
  • Proficient computer and experience;
  • Ability to lift boxes/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds (with support of lift equipment);
  • Ability to sit at a computer, work on foot, bend, or stoop for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to represent the Yellowstone Forever in a courteous and professional manner;
  • This position involves driving YF vehicles, therefore applicants must maintain a valid US driver’s license, and maintain a favorable driving record for insurance purposes;
  • The ability to pass and maintain YF
  • Driver Training and a Department of Transportation medical exam;
  • A satisfactory criminal background check is a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise a team of employees;
  • Experience with POS, Yellow Dog, Square, and ecommerce management systems;
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment;
  • Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park.

Compensation:

This is a full-time/exempt position, which will be based in Gardiner. Travel between the offices and throughout the park may be required. Salary is based upon experience.
