    Descripción

Project Phoenix is a cooperative, evangelical Lutheran ministry for middle and high school youth in North Seattle, committed to serving and welcoming all youth in a Christ-centered community. Through the hosting of regular activities and outings, we seek to bring youth together to build relationships across the region and to strengthen spiritual connections with the church and communities. We are seeking a part time activity director to collaborate with volunteers, parents of youth, and the youth themselves from our 3 participating congregations in visioning, implementing and planning activities throughout the year.

Shared youth ministry is most effective when we are sharing all of our resources (financial, facilities, equipment, volunteers, kids) and intentionally creating opportunities for youth fellowship that may not exist in our individual congregations. The shared youth ministry of Project Phoenix is inspiring to both the participating kids as well as the adults of our congregations who feed off the energy and vitality that a vibrant youth program brings to the community. All programming and visioning of the participating congregations and volunteer leadership is guided by five core tenets of the Project Phoenix ministry: worship, witness, service, education and fun.

Events are generally held on evenings or weekends. Goals of the events include (1) youth connecting with one another, (2) youth connecting with the greater community, and (3) youth connecting with their faith.

    • 4 events happening in January – May on agreed upon dates/times
    • With the hopes of future years including a back to school BBQ and a potential summer travel event
      1. Publicizing and promoting all events through multiple communications channels and social media, including the creation of promotional materials to be actively shared within the community.
      2. Creating a positive, welcoming environment to ensure positive volunteering experiences.
      3. Keeping Board members and member congregations informed of activities and opportunities.
      4. Submitting a pre-event plan to the Board at least 6 weeks prior to the event and a recap report to the Board following each event.
      5. Maintaining a budget for events that is approved by the Project Phoenix Board.

    Key Skills

    • Ability to relate well to youth, volunteers, board members and pastors.
    • Ability to work well with volunteers, parents and youth.
    • Ability to understand and maintain appropriate boundaries with youth, volunteers and staff.

    Compensation

$30-40 per hour depending on experience
