Organizational Description

Apprentice Learning provides real-world work experiences for eighth graders. At such a critical period in a young person’s life, these are the opportunities that ignite growth and change: sparking passions, giving a sense of purpose to the present, and more importantly, to a young person’s future. Our aim is to launch dreams and plans for our city’s youth that lead to success in high school, college and career. Position Description: Grant Writer

The grant writer is an integral part of the leadership team who is responsible for crafting successful grant proposals and reports. This is a work-from-home position that offers flexible daytime hours in a growing organization.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the grant writer will:

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
  • Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  • Submit proposals to Executive Director for approval.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
  • Produce timely reports.

Skills Required

  • Superb writing skills and proven experience writing for a professional audience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Deadline driven.
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task and on deadline.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to balance multiple projects, while performing at a high level in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

Work hours and compensation

Up to 10 hours per week during 9-5 pm. Work is done remotely with occasional in person meetings. Computer provided. Generous hourly salary commensurate with experience.
