Job summary:

Resolve to Save Lives is seeking a Communications Officer to support our work creating effective and compelling public health communications. Reporting to the Senior Content Manager, the Communications Officer is responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as creating written and digital materials for a range of audiences, supporting top-tier media interviews, developing behavior change communication campaigns, managing advocacy and communication partnerships, and developing strategic communications plans to support our team and program goals.

This full-time position is remote. The incumbent will be expected to convene periodically for in-person team meetings and to work during East Coast core working hours. The salary range for this role in the US is $68,000 to $75,000, depending on level of experience. 

Core duties and responsibilities:

• Serve as Cardiovascular Health (CVH) team communications point of contact, contributing to a variety of communications projects concerning the elimination of trans fat, sodium reduction and hypertension control
• Develop communications materials to support CVH program efforts, such as fact sheets, externally-facing reports, brochures, posters, OpEds, blogs, success stories, infographics, presentations, panel remarks and other project collateral
• Collaborate with RTSL’s design team to ensure that communications products use graphic design effectively and follow brand guidelines
• Support speaking engagements and media interviews related to the CVH program
• Work with the CVH Advocacy Officer to develop communications strategies to support advocacy goals
• Manage dissemination strategies and product launches for CVH communications products
• Support RTSL’s media team efforts to promote CVH work by serving as content expert
• Support tracking/management of all communications activities related to RTSL’s CVH program
• Coordinate support materials for external events (UNGA, WHA, conferences)
• Draft content for internal and external newsletters, RTSL website and social media channels
• Support RTSL CVH scientific article production and promotion
• Co-manage content for org
• Contribute to CVH communications strategy, including identifying new ideas and venues for CVH communications

Required experience and skills:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in health communications, health policy, public health, public relations, communications, or digital communication
• Outstanding writing and editing skills with sample blogs, OpEds, and/or short essays
• Excellent communicator, both written and oral
• Exceptional computer skills with experience in all Microsoft Office programs
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign preferred
• Proficiency with content management systems (Wordpress) and Mailchimp preferred
• Experience in the global public health field, including ideally in LMICs is a big plus
• Self-motivated, meticulously organized, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Enthusiasm for the mission of Resolve to Save Lives and the communities we serve
