Are you passionate about working with children and interested in leading all aspects of an after-school program which teaches creative writing and soccer to elementary school students? We are looking for a leader to help kick start our program post the pandemic, re-connecting with schools and the poet-athletes we serve. America SCORES Seattle inspires youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world. As the Program Director your key responsibilities will be:
- Initiating and setting goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization.
- Planning the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones and processes.
- Tuning the writing, soccer and community curriculum to launch the new fall and spring seasons.
- Recruit, coach, train and mentor school coordinators, schoolteachers and volunteers.
- Creating connections with School Principals, providing insights on the program and delivering progress reports on pupils.
- Attending school lessons to oversee the program delivery and listen to feedback from coaches and pupils.
- Act as a single point of contact for questions, issues, and feedback, creating a constant improvement loop for the program.
- Coordinating the deliverables for students, including equipment and supplies, and for school coordinators supplies, fields and classrooms.
- Deliver consistent communication and dialogue with schools, pupils and parents
As time permits, there will be opportunities for:
- Continuously developing and improving creative writing and soccer curricula in conjunction with other America SCORES sites (currently Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Dallas, St Louis, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington DC).
- Representing Seattle SCORES citywide (and possibly nationally) to other educational and soccer organizations and at conferences.
- Working with the Executive Director and Board Members in developing and coordinating fundraising events, such as annual auction and cultivation events.
- Researching and approaching corporations and businesses regarding support and sponsorship of events.
- Help coordinate avenues for SCORES student recognition on SCORES web site and school sites: announcements, assemblies, displays, classroom announcements, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree social work, psychology, public administration, business, or related field preferred
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Background in education and/or experience working with youth
- Experience in project management and event coordination
- Substantial knowledge of sports, preferably soccer
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative and work well independently
- Preferred experience working in a non-profit setting
- Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner
- Detail oriented and demonstrated ability in multi-tasking
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Personal transportation available
