Digital Content Consultant

The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers and AFTPA seek to enter into an independent contract with a Digital Content Consultant to provide digital media for both organizations. The Digital Content Consultant will report to the Director of Communications for the PFT and AFTPA and prepare online content to inform and motivate union members, public education stakeholders, as well as the general public. 

Responsibilities:

• Create digital content for PFT and AFTPA social media accounts
• Create graphics and short videos to promote issues and events, as well as for member services and education
• Provide graphics, photo, and video production services for events (on-site preferable but not required)
• Identify engagement opportunities for both labor affiliates on social media
• Create Photoshop and/or Illustrator evergreen templates to be used by internal communications staff for Rapid Response
• Contribute creative content ideas and suggest opportunities for audience engagement
• The consultant will be responsible for professional services and subscriptions (such as Photoshop) required for digital communications work

Experience: 

• 1+ years of experience working in digital communications in political, labor, government, or community organizing spaces (or related spaces)
• 1+ years of experience creating social media content and managing social accounts for political, labor, government, or community organizations or leaders (or related organizations)
• 1+ years of graphic design, photo, and video production and editing experience
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

• Ability to provide rapid response content

• Long advance notice of evergreen content (eg, for holidays) and notice of at least three days for requested weekly content 
• Flexibility on remote work (eg, we will provide video and photo content of on-site events for the associate to edit and produce)
• Reimbursement for travel expenses for on-site work
• The PFT/AFTPA are responsible to provide detailed information and direction about events such as press conferences at the time a work request is made 
• All project requests and deadlines will be agreed upon by the consultant and PFT/AFTPA. The PFT/AFTPA will seek to be reasonable and fair in all content requests.
