The Museum of Tolerance fulfills the mission of the Simon Wiesenthal Center through education and outreach, providing educational experiences within the Museum and beyond. The Associate Director, Public Programs is responsible for developing and implementing a broad range of mission aligned and accessible public programs and temporary exhibitions. Programming including lectures, performances, digital gatherings, screenings, family workshops and community events support and contribute to the Museum’s mission and vision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Envisions and executes innovative public programs and temporary exhibitions that serve museum audiences in support of the mission and vision of the Museum
· Produces all public programs from conception through implementation, managing event logistics and schedules, creating and tracking budgets, and interfacing with presenters and the public, ensuring high-quality event production
· Collaborates with the development department to identify program sponsors and develop, cultivate, and maintain relations with donors
· Works closely with marketing and communications colleagues to maximize program attendance and participation
· Develops relationships with community partners, performers, scholars, artists and others to create a robust calendar of public programming and temporary exhibitions
· Negotiates and manages all contracts and memos of understanding for related programming
· Evening and weekend work required
· Other job related duties and responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate.
YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT FOR US IF YOU HAVE:
· At least five years of experience in museum program development
· Demonstrated experience creating, coordinating, and delivering high-quality, innovative programs and events
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines concurrently
· Exceptional strategy development, project management, and communication skills
· Strong attention to detail
· High degree of flexibility, can adapt easily to changing environments and tasks
· Advanced degree in Museum Education, Art History or related field preferred but not required
40 hours/week; Monday – Friday, (occasional evenings and Sundays)
