Quality Matters (QM) is the global organization leading quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments. As a nonprofit organization, QM serves an engaged global education community with a dedicated staff that work together virtually as a team, from cities all over the United States, to support the community's quality assurance goals to help all learners succeed.


QM operates a virtual office, and this will be a remote, home-based position. Applicants must reside in one of the following states to be considered for this position: CT, FL, IL, KY, IN, MD, MI, MO, NM, NV, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, or WA. You should also have access to reliable high-speed internet. Candidates outside of these states need not apply. The salary range for this position is $63,427 - $71,356. We provide our employees with a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, 401(k), 12 paid holidays, paid vacation and paid sick leave.

Responsibilities


In this role, the Senior Copywriter and Social Media Specialist will support:


  • The Quality Matters™ (QM) organization toward the achievement of QM's philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.
  • Implementation of the Creative Services Content Plan, marketing initiatives as determined by the QM Directors' Group and communications as directed by the Director of Creative Services & Brand Experience.



Senior Copywriter & Communications Specialist Responsibilities


  • Create compelling content and messaging to entice action from our audiences using the principles of AIDA (attention, interest, desire/decision, action)
  • Conduct written or verbal interviews with QM staff and QM subscribers to collect data on the use of QM products/services and success stories.
  • Use research and interview techniques to inform writing of articles, newsletters, emails and other content.
  • Coordinate with department stakeholders on approvals of communications from draft to deployment, following workflow practices and schedule outlined by the Director of Creative Services.
  • Create and deploy email-marketing campaigns, using layout templates and other tools.
  • Curate content and support QM departments with writing and editing as approved by the Director of Creative Services.
  • Develop a deep understanding of QM's content style, voice, brand and products across various markets.
  • Strive for content excellence by ensuring it adheres to relevant style guides, legal guidelines and accessibility practices.
  • Use Photoshop and other web-based media creation platforms (such as Canva) to create and format graphics to be used in email and social media campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Creative Services, including monitoring of QM social media channels.



Collaborate as a member of the Quality Matters Team


  • Coordinate and cooperate with Quality Matters staff to ensure Quality Matters mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings - from a distance or in-person as determined by Quality Matters Director.
  • Attend in-person QM conferences and any required organizational or planning meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications


Self-starter, capable of being productive in a fast-moving virtual office environment with the following qualifications and desired skills:


  • 5+ years of experience in journalism, multimedia production, copywriting, editing, or marketing with assigned duties for copywriting.
  • 2+ years of experience using email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
  • Well-versed in using standard digital workflow in a team environment for ideation, drafting, routing, and execution. This includes the ability to use (or willingness to learn) standard file naming conventions, email, Basecamp or ClickUp, Google Docs/Drive, and Skype.
  • Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven marketing.
  • Experience with content management systems such as WordPress or Drupal.
  • Experience with long-form content writing (articles and/or blogs).
  • Clear, constant and actionable communication.
  • Creative, collaborative, yet independent, able to multitask, prioritize and remain flexible in an evolving environment.
  • Takes ownership of business problems to find actionable solutions.
  • Must work well with technical and non-technical individuals
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving, virtual work environment



Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience writing for higher education and/or K-12 education audiences.
  • Familiarity with Quality Matters.
  • Prior experience working in a member-based organization.
  • Prior experience collaborating with external stakeholders to create written and visual content such as articles and videos.



Technology Proficiencies


  • Hands on experience with Social Media applications (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Hootsuite).
  • Well-versed in using standard digital workflow in a team environment for ideation, drafting, routing, and execution. This includes the ability to use (or willingness to learn) standard file naming conventions, email, Basecamp, Google Docs/Drive, and Skype.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (eg MailChimp or ConstantContact)
  • Experienced using Basecamp, ClickUp or other project management workflow platforms.



Work Environment and Physical Demands


This job operates in a telecommuting and/or home office environment. The work in this role is conducted primarily through the use of computers or computer-based and internet technology as well as other office productivity machinery such as a computer printer. As such, the job is largely sedentary and requires continual and sustained operation of a computer. The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, colleagues and staff in both synchronous and asynchronous modalities. Must be able to exchange accurate information in a timely manner.


This is a full-time, telecommuting position *At-Will* in nature and scheduled at 40 hours per week, minimum. The salary is based on (80) per pay period and requires synchronous availability during the core hours of 10a-3p, Eastern Time.
