Content Marketing Specialist

As a skilled, hands-on content creator, the Content Marketing Specialist finds innovative ways to engage with POST’s increasingly diverse audience and donor base by producing content that enhances our brand and expands our reach. You enjoy rendering content into various forms from videos and graphics to copy that engages people through email, web and social media, as well as tracking performance regularly to inform our strategy.

You are eager to experiment and work collaboratively across all of POST’s marketing channels. You understand the marketing funnel and general practices, have an eye for design and how to spin a story, and are interested in applying your passion within a leading-edge environmental nonprofit. Working closely with members of the marketing, fundraising and land teams, your contributions support POST’s mission to “protect open space for the benefit of all” by making sure everyone can appreciate the many benefits of nature. 

POST is currently a combined remote and hybrid workplace, and our policy regarding hybrid work schedules continues to evolve. We expect to maintain flexibility regarding schedules and hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate for this job must live within a reasonable driving distance to POST lands on the San Francisco Peninsula and in the South Bay.

In this role, you will:

Manage POST’s organic social media presence, composing copy, distributing the content you produce and ensuring our channels are on brand. This also includes responding to comments and questions, staying up to date on current trends, suggesting improvements and tracking and reporting on results.

Produce multimodal content that complements longer form stories and themes, including graphics, text, photos and videos optimized for different channels.

Create videos — develop concepts, write scripts, shoot footage and edit audio and visuals — to produce multiple styles of videos for various purposes, platforms and audiences.

Help keep our web visuals and messaging fresh; expand storytelling on our blog and other sources as needed.

Collaborate on POST’s hiking guides to refresh them, increase usability and ensure their content engages and grows our community.

Support Annual Giving campaigns by curating and/or producing assets for emails and the website.

Support public relations and media efforts by developing and curating photos, b-roll, maps and other assets needed.

Design print and digital ads, ensuring messaging and visuals are effective and on-brand.

Become proficient with the basics of our email marketing system, Pardot, to act as a backup to our Senior Manager of Digital Marketing.

Manage contractors as needed to supplement our content development.

Manage our visual asset inventory (currently in Webdam and Wistia) to ensure appropriate tagging and naming for ease of use; explore system improvements.

Work across POST staff to fact check content while also making sure our language and visuals are accessible for a broad audience.

Share responsibility for responding to POST’s online feedback form and reply to inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Direct inquiries to others in the organization when needed.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

Demonstrable marketing experience in a professional setting.

An understanding of marketing functions including digital, social media, email marketing and website best practices.

Experience managing social media accounts in a professional capacity and knowledge of brand voice, best practices and trends.

Hands-on video and photo production and editing skills with proficiency in short-form storytelling and knowledge of licensing practices for multimedia content creation.

Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills and a sound understanding of branding and design theory.

Excellent writing skills with the ability to adapt your voice for different channels, subject matters and audiences.

A commitment to POST’s core values and our work in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Familiarity with digital solutions such as content management systems, email marketing systems, Google Analytics and cloud storage solutions is strongly preferred.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with stakeholders across the organization to keep projects on track and ensure the best possible outcome.

Comfort appearing in videos and speaking as the face of POST would be beneficial.

Knowledge of, or a passion for land conservation and/or management and the natural world are beneficial in this role.

This role has the following physical or scheduling requirements:

A valid California Driver’s License, insurable driving record and the ability to drive to remote locations for content creation.

Regular and accurate communication with others and completion of work tasks involving the use of phone, computer, web and video technology, as well as the ability to interact effectively with digital and printed materials and operate required job-related equipment.

Ability to hike uneven or rough terrain, and to tolerate exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.

Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment and supplies in the office or the field.

There are occasional duties that occur outside regular working hours.

STARTING SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION:

$72,450-$80,500 depending upon level of skills and experience, plus excellent benefits
