Program Summary
Red Oak is a licensed school-age childcare program that provides families with licensed out-of-school time childcare for children ages 5-13 during both the school year and summer. Red Oak promotes children’s growth through literacy and arts education in a multicultural and multilingual environment. Red Oak is open after school and full days during school vacations, summer, and Boston Public School professional days.
Position Overview
The critical functions of the Director of Red Oak will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, hiring, training, and coaching of the program administrator and staff; need to develop and to review curriculum; managing policies, procedures, and licensing for auditing; parents meeting; record-keeping for children and teachers; observe the classrooms, and submit bi-monthly oral and written reports. The Director will share the administrative responsibilities with the Assistant. The Director will partner with family services to plan family engagement activities and collaborate with Human Resources on hiring and managing the volunteer program.
This person needs to maintain positive relationships with Josiah Quincy Elementary School (JQES) and Boston Center Youth and Families (BCYF) and collaborates with the Director of Child Care Services to evaluate and develop program resources. During COVID-19, the Director is responsible for ensuring all staff follows health and safety guidelines & regulations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC. The Director ensures adherence to local and state regulatory requirements. The Director of Red Oak Afterschool & Summer Program will report directly to the Director of Childcare.
