JOB DESCRIPTION:

NDI is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our growing Development team full-time in a hybrid capacity at our state-of-the-art facility in Harlem.

An integral leader of the department, the Deputy Director of Advancement will report to the Chief Advancement Officer and will be responsible for the administration of the development department with two direct reports and a major gifts portfolio. Key to success in this role will be identifying and building relationships with new high net worth and ultra-high net worth prospects, as well as strengthening relationships with existing major donors to maximize philanthropic support.

This is an exciting opportunity for to be a leader of a dynamic fundraising team whose vision is to support National Dance Institute’s work in providing the highest quality arts education programs to over 6,500 New York City public school children each year. The candidate must be an exceptional writer, a creative thinker, a team player, detail oriented, and deadline sensitive.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Major Gifts Portfolio
• Manage a portfolio of Major Gift ($10K-$100K) donors; develop and execute strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and new donors
• Supervision and Departmental Administration
• Supervising the Individual and Institutional Giving managers
• Manage the approval process for Development communications (proposals, letters, emails, etc.)
• Campaign Management
• Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer to set and execute on a comprehensive campaign strategy; proactively assess progress and plans throughout the campaign
• Support the Executive Director, Artistic Director, Chief Advancement Officer, and volunteer campaign leaders on campaign asks; orchestrate strategy and ensure thorough and accurate research, objectives, and talking points for every campaign meeting
• Manage the work of the Campaign Cabinet by creating all meeting materials and volunteer tools for campaign-related activities
• Other responsibilities as needed

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS:

• Skills:
• Strong organizational, management and administrative skills including the ability to multi-task
• Proven ability to solicit and close annual and major gifts with donors is essential
• Proven track record of planning and executing successful fundraising campaigns
• Highly organized and adept project manager
• A sound understanding of financial reports and budgeting
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, and presentation skills
• Familiarity with excel spreadsheets, and database management software
• Knowledge of NYC’s arts landscape, a plus
• Work Experience:
• Five to seven years of fundraising experience
• Experience in direct solicitation and closing gifts
• Experience in managing a team
• Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
