Stay Housed LA is a City and County funded initiative that works to keep tenants in their homes by providing them with information and, when possible, references to legal support. Stay Housed LA is seeking an Education Manager to support staff across multiple participating organizations by developing materials, coordinating teams, planning events, and evaluating progress, among other duties. The successful candidate will work closely with staff at SAJE and the Liberty Hill Foundation to ensure that participating groups are fulfilling their duties and that the program is meeting its potential. Stay Housed LA is a program that seeks to prevent and divert evictions through education, outreach and legal services. It serves tenants across LA City and County and is funded by The LA Housed Department, Department of Business and Consumer Affairs, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and the Liberty Hill Foundation. The following provides a general overview of the activities and responsibilities of the position but does not represent an exhaustive list of job duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position focuses on the Education deliverables required of CBOs under Stay Housed LA. This position will ensure materials, content, training, coordination and more is operationalized, active, and clear for staff and tenants alike. The above will be accomplished with the following responsibilities:
Manage Educational Content. Oversee coordination of new educational content and updates to educational content to be approved by lead contractors.
Coordinate input teams. Manage the following five groups to create and update educational content:
Stay Housed LA Branding and Style guidance
Accessibility
Language
Popular Education
Legal
Implement new slide decks. Introduce new content with our CBO partners, this includes training, observation etc
Manage and evaluate content of workshops and a slide library (By geography e.g addt’l Rent Stabilization Ordinance cities, language, topic, Legal Service Providers etc.)
Certify educational events meet master contract & steering committee standards.
Monitor and steward the Slide Library so that it remains up to date, clean, usable and coordinate with the Language Justice coordinator on usage guidelines.
Observe CBO Educational Events and Workshops to gather monthly reports on standardization and support consistent improvement and quality control with recommendations.
Assess program wide workshops and workshop calendar and identify recurring events, duplicative efforts etc in pursuit of a program wide calendar that can maximize tenant impact and minimize duplicative staff efforts. Redistribute workshops to occur more spread out throughout the calendar.
Support event coordination for County and City wide in-person educational events
Attend all necessary Program Wide staff meetings including but not limited to Language Justice meetings, CBO Program Staff and LAFLA Staff as needed or requested.
Participate in other SAJE activities as needed. These duties might include participating in all SAJE all-staff activities, flyering, door knocking, public comment, and attending SAJE organizational meetings and events
QUALIFICATIONS
5-7 years of experience working across groups, teams, or coalitions
5-7 years of experience teaching, organizing using popular education, facilitating, designing learning experiences or operating in an environment where educational goals were advanced.
Ability to receive feedback with openness, and ability to implement that feedback
Experience in online Learning spaces & popular education.
Is able to work a hybrid position in-person at the SAJE office and in the field.
Has basic computer skills and can use software including Excel and database systems and can learn successfully with new software applications.
Has a strong commitment to social justice.
Excellent presentation, speaking, and facilitation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
Able to explain complex information and issues in easy-to-understand manner, including ability to use popular-education techniques
Have a valid driver's license.
Flexible in time and mind: there may be weekly evening commitments and work required during the weekend.
Organized and detail oriented; excellent time and project management skills.
Ability to prioritize work amongst distractions or interruptions and adjust priorities quickly, strong capacity for both independent and collaborative problem-solving.

Lift weights up to 50 pounds
Carry on appropriate conversations, participate attentively in meetings and trainings, and develop productive professional relationships

SAJE strives to maintain a sustainable work/life balance and offers a competitive benefits package and salary (based on experience). This is a full-time position. All SAJE employees must be vaccinated against infections and diseases according to the recommendations of medical professionals and the CDC. The rate of pay is $75,000 to $88,000 plus benefits (including medical, vision, and dental), three weeks of vacation per year (four weeks per year after one year of service), and thirteen holidays.
