Communications and Marketing Manager Job description

Tuesday’s Children seeks a creative and high-energy Communications and Marketing Manager who will be responsible for the management and execution of all of Tuesday’s Children’s external and internal digital communications strategies. This person will be a strategic thinker who will raise the visibility and awareness of Tuesday’s Children’s work through our website, email, quarterly newsletters, social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn) and media channels.

The Communications and Marketing Manager will be a strategic thinker and have excellent writing, technology and communications skills. The Manager will promote the mission of Tuesday’s Children and keep the service populations, relevant stakeholders and the general public informed of the organization’s goals and initiatives. This person will support internal departments in all design, creation and production of print and digital marketing and will ensure that all branding and messaging is consistent across all levels of the organization. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

Create and execute a sophisticated digital communications strategy that supports the evolving and over-arching goals of the organization

Update organizational website content as needed and act as primary point of contact with external website support and SEO team

Develop and execute digital and traditional communications strategy inclusive of content distribution calendar

Manage all aspects of direct mail fundraising campaigns from print mailings to digital ads and email components

Understand the strategic role of design and layout in developing compelling & effective products

Act as primary point of contact with Public Relations consultant, including overseeing press releases, media kits and all marketing collateral

Collaborate with teams in order to develop marketing assets and curate compelling content for digital platforms

Review illustrative materials to determine if all communications conform to the organization’s standards and specifications.

Create and maintain a common voice

Manage all active social media platforms by utilizing a monthly editorial calendar, drafting captions and designing all accompanying graphics for both organic and paid posts

Create all Board report presentations and report to the Board’s Marketing Committee on a bi-annual basis

Manage all components of organizational online merchandise of store, including compiling monthly tracking reports and acting as primary point of contact with external store managers

Desired Skills and Experience skills/Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills  
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the field
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Marking, Business or Communications
  • Documented experience in website, design and social media management required
  • Strong knowledge of WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign and Photoshop), Google Analytics, Adwords, Hootsuite, Constant Contact and Canva
  •  Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, preferred
  • Knowledge of media editing software
  • Excellent personal communication, presentation and editing skills
  • Multitasker with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
  • Strong decision-making skills, high energy and enthusiasm for Tuesday’s Children’s mission
  • Photography skills a plus
  • Shopify knowledge a plus
  • Location flexible. NY area preferred. Some evenings and weekends are required
  • Salary commensurate with experience
