The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, is seeking a bilingual creator of multimedia (audio/video) content in both English and Spanish for assigned activities, social media and websites, public service announcements, leadership communications, educational modules, news reporting, and other enterprise-wide uses. This role will facilitate and perform studio- and field-based video pre-production, production, and post-production, advise staff on narrative elements to bring sight and sound together to tell a cohesive story that achieves communication objectives, and provide consultative guidance and oversight regarding video strategy.
Hybrid working arrangement of 40% on-site at our Chicago suburb headquarters in Itasca, IL.

Some tasks include:
1. Translate abstract concepts into effective visual form by working with team to develop scripts and storyboards. Select optimal forms of media for projects. Budget, allocate resources, and set deadlines as appropriate for projects.
2. Work with internal clients to advise the best category, style, and method for creating the most effective video to suit their needs and budgets.
3. Plan video shoots, including scouting, selecting, and reserving shoot locations. Develop production schedules and shot lists.
4. Advise on creation of culturally relevant video and multimedia content for Spanish-speaking communities and audiences, including translation of English-first content as well as creation of Spanish-first videos.
5. Select and hire additional crew and talent when needed for video shoots and arrange logistics for transportation and equipment. Reserve and rent equipment as needed.
6. Supervise location- and studio-based video production. Perform or direct on-set lighting, camera operation, sound, teleprompter, and other production activity as needed.
7. Work with talent on performance direction.
8. Supervise post-production. Plan, perform, or delegate video post-production tasks, including making editorial decisions, editing video, editing/mixing audio, chroma-keying and visual effects, voice-over, motion graphics, color correction and finishing.
9. Manage review process for Spanish video content.
10. Compress video projects for delivery and distribute to necessary sites, vendors, or clients. Post or upload video content on designated platform with appropriate tags, metadata and descriptions.
11. Provide guidance on style and branding to ensure cohesion in AAP videos.
12. Research and remain current on the developments and applications of state- of- the- art video production technology.
13. Manage Spanish-language video library and archive.
14. Evaluate analytics for video content.
15. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications needed:
1. Bachelor’s degree in film/video, communications, or related field required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
2. At least three years’ related experience in television, film, or news media production required, including production equipment operation, non-linear editing, creating motion graphics and visual fx, and creating Spanish-language videos. Experience in a corporate, medical, or association environment preferred.
3. Fluency in English and Spanish is required, as well as knowledge of culturally appropriate language. Expert level knowledge of all professional video production procedures, practices, techniques, terminology, and production equipment operation including video cameras and recorders, audio recording equipment, file compression, audio recording, graphics manipulation, lighting, and proper handling and troubleshooting of broadcast quality video production equipment. Strong technical acumen with proficiency in MS Office, non-linear editing software (eg, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere), Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, etc.), and the ability to learn and apply new video and audio technologies essential; experience with virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Team) preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, decision- making, and time management skills. Must be creative, take initiative, pay close attention to detail, be able to work both independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously within strict deadlines, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
