Pay Rate: $18/hour for 15 - 20 hours per week
Location: Hybrid. This is primarily a remote position, with an estimated 5 - 10 hours per week of in-person programming, depending on the time of year. During the summer, there will be in-person summer camp programming in Montgomery County (Norristown, PA) and Chester County, PA. During the academic year, there are about 4-6 hours per week of in-person programming. The rest of the role can be performed primarily remotely.

ABOUT THE NEWCOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Reporting to the Executive Director, the primary responsibility of this role is the daily coordination and oversight of all aspects of the Project Libertad’s weekly Newcomer Support Programs, including (1) supervision of volunteers in the program, (2) enrollment of students (when applicable), (3) creation of content, organization/preparation and distribution of program supplies, and (4) coordination with school district partners.
Newcomer Support Programs are trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, academic enrichment programs designed to create a safe space for newcomer immigrant youth to form positive relationships with adult mentors and older newcomer students, realize their academic potential, engage meaningfully with their school community, develop leadership skills, and process their experience of migration with fellow newcomers. Sample program activities include, but are not limited to: English language support, homework assistance/tutoring, mentorship, leadership development, mental health support, art projects, team-building activities, and life skills.

As a member of the Project Libertad team, the Newcomer Support Program Coordinator is responsible for the day to day functions, consistency, and success of the Newcomer Support Programs. This position plays a key role in creating strong relationships with youth and families who participate in our program as well as consistent and effective communication with program staff/volunteers and school partners.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
We seek a Newcomer Program Coordinator who has had experience and success working with children in an environment that emphasizes activities that build values such as peer leadership, equity, service learning, teamwork and responsibility. The ideal Newcomer Program Coordinator is a collaborator interested in working closely with a team to continually develop outstanding enrichment programs for our participants. We seek an individual who is enthusiastic and creative in their approach to discipline, group cohesion, and preparing children for learning.
Spanish fluency is required. Portuguese fluency is preferred but not required.
Required Clearances: The Newcomer Program Coordinator must obtain all required clearances for working with youth in PA and renew them annually, in compliance with Project Libertad policy. Mandated reporter training must be completed as required.
Working Conditions
This position is a physically active position. The Newcomer Program Coordinator must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, to bend at the knees and hips and to lift at least 30 pounds overhead.
This position is a part-time position and requires the ability to work in-person for up
to 10 hours per week in the summer, as well as the ability to work several hours per week in-person during the academic year (can be flexible depending on the coordinator’s schedule). The coordinator will work remotely the rest of the time.
