Self-Evident Education: Sales and Distribution Coordinator Job Description

Self-Evident Education creates multimedia resources and professional development opportunities that harness the powers of storytelling to allow educators to deeply understand the histories and legacies of systemic racism in the United States of America and to facilitate those conversations in their classrooms. We believe that learning is an essential human drive, and so the opportunity to learn will be the engine that powers the growth of our work. By empowering educators and their students with a deeper understanding of our nation’s past, we equip them with the tools to better understand our present, and imagine and build a future where racism can be intentionally dismantled.

We are committed to teaching critical history in responsible ways. We are an organization that values the diverse identities and lived experiences of our community and we will always be committed to working with love, integrity, and accountability.

We are looking for a Sales and Distribution Coordinator to support our executive director in creating and successfully executing marketing and sales plans for Self-Evident Education’s goods (multimedia curriculum and “Know the Ledge”) and services (professional development, curriculum development, consulting, contract filmmaking, etc), as well as seeking corporate sponsorship relationships. Candidates are able to work remotely and travel on occasion; being able to work in person in Florence, MA on occasion is a plus, but not required.

As Sales and Distribution Coordinator, you will perform various organizational tasks, including research, creation of sales materials, relationship building (customer recruitment and retainment), attending/presenting at conferences, communications, and more. For this role, a strong Internet connection is required. Ultimately, you should be able to handle marketing and sales initiatives and deliver high-quality work under minimum supervision.

The Sales and Distribution Coordinator position is a W2 position.

    Timeline, Compensation, and Benefits

    • We are hoping to hire our Sales Coordinator before the end of August, 2025.
    • This is a part time position to begin with, with the opportunity for growth. Initially we are looking for 15 hours per week at a rate of $35 an hour. Commission rates can be discussed and mutually agreed upon.
    • New employees start with one day of paid sick time (equal to their total weekly hours divided by five) and accumulate 2 hours paid sick time for every 40 hours worked.
      • The maximum sick time an employee can accumulate in a 12 month period is equal to two weeks. For example, if an employee is working 10 hours a week, the maximum sick time that can be accumulated in a 12 month period is 20 hours; if an employee works 40 hours a week, the maximum is 80 hours in a 12 month period.
    • Employees have all national holidays off and are paid for their hours on these days

    Responsibilities:

The Self-Evident Education Sales Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to:

    • Create and maintain system for using a CRM
    • Sell access to the Self-Evident Education Library of resources and services, and determine the prices for said resources and services
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with new customers that lead to sales
      • Research the market—Who are our competitors/antitheses and what are they charging/how are they getting into schools, etc.? Which communities are most likely to want what we have? Who are the decision makers who purchase curriculum?
    • Create sales campaigns to successfully reach new markets
    • Work with schools and districts to understand their needs and generate responsive solutions
    • Meet sales quotas as set by the Executive Director
    • Establish partnerships and close contracts with outside entities (i.e. Smithsonian & John Brown Lives!) to create films and curriculum
    • Book professional development and consulting work
    • Book the Self-Evident Speakers Bureau/Know the Ledge
      • Develop a webpage for P.D. offerings, “Know the Ledge”, and the Self-Evident Speakers Bureau
    • Book film screenings at venues like: libraries, community centers, faith orgs, etc.
    • Work to secure sponsorships for special events/SEE in general.
    • Research where (conferences, list serves, etc.) those folks are/go and go there as a representative of SEE
      • Identify communities (such as “The Big City Social Studies Group”) that we should be active in
    • Other duties as assigned

To be successful in this position, applicants must have:

    • A passion for education, history, and antiracist work
    • A thorough understanding of our core mission and an enthusiasm to translate the value of our work to others
    • Past sales experience (preferably educational sales)
