We are a remote-first workplace but the candidate in this role needs to be based in Pennsylvania, US. This is a Full-Time role (40 hours per week) with no option for part-time.

About the Opportunity

The Certification & Verification Team is changing the way businesses engage in social and environmental impact by carrying out the Mission of the B Lab Global and providing innovative, accurate, and meaningful experiences to our stakeholders, while supporting each other in trust, wellness, and growth. 
B Lab aims to build a verification system that is: scalable with demand, localized to add context for applicants, rigorous, maintaining the integrity of the Certification and cost efficient, creating a sustainable business model.
Currently, the verification work is conducted by 1) internal Business Sustainability Analysts in the U.S., Europe, UK, Latin America and Australia, and 2) a new partnership with an Independent Assurance Provider who has Independent Verification Analysts (IVAs) on every continent. These analysts, both internal and external, work directly with companies globally to support them in verifying their performance using B Lab’s proprietary application, the B Impact Assessment (BIA) and completing the process for B Corporation Certification.

The Partner Support Specialist role includes training and coaching Independent Verification Analysts, overseeing and assuring quality of the verification, applying discretion and critical thinking skills to adequately match risk with rigor on reviews conducted by these analysts, and managing elevated standard application questions. 

The Partner Support Specialist will work directly with the IVAs, may work directly with companies and other stakeholders (such as Global Partners) on elevated cases, and contribute to the further development and improvement of the partnership.  As such, this role will work with ever shifting timelines and high priority needs, quick response times and navigate multi-stakeholder relationships. They play a key role in realizing B Lab’s vision of creating systemic change through exponential movement growth. The Partner Success Specialist is internally referenced as the Senior Support Analyst.


Core Responsibilities 

You will become an expert in coaching IVAs through the certification process, applying the BIA standards, managing external relationships with our partners independently and as part of a team, applying quality assurance mechanisms and managing risk. You will report to a Certification & Verification team manager, and work with colleagues on the Certification & Verification and Standards teams, as well as with our network of Global Partners working in the local markets where the companies operate.

Direct Support to Independent Verification Analysts (35-40%)

  • Train on process and standards for onboarding independent verification analysts, including facilitating Q&As and office hours to supplement online training modules as needed
  • Provide coaching and facilitate access to resources to ensure quality and effective verification of independent verification analysts, including one-on-one meetings, office hours, and asynchronistic support (slack, email, etc.)
  • Offer coaching and support on relationship management or customer service, if needed
  • Deliver continual feedback to analysts, formal guidance, and bi-annual performance checkpoints in partnership with Partner (e.g. Genashtim HR), deliver evaluations as needed (after probationary periods, changes in process, etc.)
  • Monitor goals and objectives for independent verification analysts (individual and team) for achievement of operational results through pipeline management support
  • Provide regular feedback and contribute to Partner Program team on work allocation, ways of working and other initiatives working or needed
  • Responsible for ensuring department and organization policies and practices are understood and adopted by the team, including Conflict of Interest / NDA policies
  • Assigning appropriate amount of companies for independent verification analysts on a weekly basis

Oversee quality of IVA verification (30-45%)

  • Conducting assessment checks that adequately matches risk with rigor
  • Monitor customer satisfaction survey results and/or feedback from global partners

Managing processes & complex cases, especially cross-departmental/team (10%) 

  • May include management of any DQ and Complex Structure cases that come up from IVA reviews. 
  • Managing assessment decisions
  • Utilize thorough & broad knowledge of the standards, efficiently navigate our platforms, and demonstrate good judgment & efficient decision-making for questions raised.
  • General support for tech, BIA and process through office hours and sharing resources/expertise
  • May liaise directly with Global Partners and C&V Circles to ensure appropriate assignment, answer company-specific and process questions, etc.

May assist companies in completing the certification process (5%)  

  • Review companies’ B Impact Assessment, and other data and documentation about their social and environmental performance, accurately and efficiently within the process for certification 
  • Independently lead key contacts at companies going through the certification or recertification process; providing quality customer service with care, and managing communications related to the standards and certification
  • Guide companies through the B Corp Legal Framework and legal requirement for certification
  • Explain the standards, certification requirements, and timelines collaboratively with our Global Partners, key contacts at B Corps and prospective B Corps and/or their consultants
  • Manage account pipeline and project timelines for companies in the certification process
  • Provide continual feedback to process or department leads, and individually contribute to piloting, improving and the standards and certification process   
  • Contribute to research in standards development or application of standards

Contribute to improvements that advance B Lab Global & supporting Partnership Program (5-10%)

  • Provide continual feedback to process or department leads 
  • Contribute to research in standards development or application of standards
  • Draft proposals for recommendations 
  • Participate in B Lab staff initiatives and professional development opportunities
  • This also includes leading and participating in training and mentoring new members to the Partnership Program Circle


About You

  • 2-5 years of experience in business analysis, sustainability analysis or corporate social responsibility
  • Experience and cultural competency working with or in different global contexts
  • Experiential or educational knowledge of Business, Sustainability, Social Sciences and/or Environmental Studies
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage relationships and work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders' 
  • Experience with providing coaching or support on relationship management or customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to break down ideas and process and effectively train or teach others 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide specific and effective feedback on performance/Ways of Working, or through project retrospectives
  • Data analysis experience 
  • Pipeline management skills, demonstrated by timely advancement of companies through the certification process (i.e. companies move to the next stage within 90 days, deadlines met, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented individual that are able to grasp the big picture and draw connections between various aspects of a task or project and complete high-quality work with little to no errors
  • Experience with and willingness to participate in creating or co-developing process-related proposals, or changes to existing ones
  • Familiarity or proficiency with G Suite, Slack, and Asana or comparable project management tool
  • Familiarity or proficiency with our B Impact Assessment Platform is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced experimental environment

Compensation Details

B Lab offers a competitive compensation plan that includes:

  • Annual salary range of $56,400 - $58,400
  • Excellent health benefits package including access to medical, vision and dental coverage
  • Paid time off for vacation - in your first year, you’ll start with 3 weeks (prorated in a calendar year)
  • 403(b) with a match of up to 3%
  • Unlimited sick and personal time - if you need it, use it
  • After your first year of employment, 40 hours paid time off for community service; paid parental leave; and time and budget for your professional development (we assess this PD budget annually)
