Project Coordinator for the Dean

The Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at The City College of New York is hiring a Project Coordinator for the Dean to provide organizational and administrative assistance. Reporting to the Dean and working closely with the Director of Development and External Relations, the person hired will managing workflow, calendars, project timelines, meetings and events; play a central role in the stewardship of donors and prospects; and be responsible for the preparation of on-time reports and correspondence. 

The Colin Powell School is home to CCNY’s social science departments as well the College’s core leadership development and public service programs. With 4,000 students, and graduating the most CCNY students annually, the Colin Powell School mission is to transform the nation’s most diverse student body into tomorrow’s global leaders. Half of our students are immigrants and most come from lower income backgrounds. More than seventy percent are first-generation college students, and eighty percent are people of color. The Colin Powell School and City College remain among the most effective engines of economic and social mobility in the United States. The successful candidate will help the Dean and the Director of Development and External Relations advance this mission along on all fronts, especially as the school undertakes expanded fundraising and development initiatives. 


Core responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for all aspects of development and external relations, including direct assistance to the Dean in managing calendars, scheduling, and tasks. 
  • Manage communications and outreach made to the Dean’s Office. Identify and evaluate pertinent communications issues, and use discretion and judgement to develop and execute strategies for addressing them. 
  • Respond to routine & non-routine inquiries regarding CPS and forward situations and issues presented by staff, faculty and external constituents to appropriate staff members for resolution. 
  • In coordination with the Director of Development, manage the Dean’s prospect contact process. Oversee the production, proofreading, distribution, and tracking of donor communications and outreach to create timely, accurate and personalized cultivation and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Development, Finance, and relevant departments to ensure adherence to donor restrictions and requests.
  • Coordinate, plan and execute scholarship meetings and other stewardship events, including communication with student scholarship recipients.
  • In collaboration with Director of Development and the Communications team, oversee and contribute to the regular publication of the CPS newsletter, Annual Report, and other publications.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean.


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required. A minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred, ideally in a higher education environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and meticulous attention to detail; the ability to set, negotiate, and meet priorities and produce high-quality work under multiple deadline pressure and within a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups, including colleagues, faculty, staff, donors, volunteers and College officials.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated proficiency in proofreading and copy-editing.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the full Microsoft Office suite.
  • Flexibility and the capacity to work well under uncertainty and seek opportunities to learn; willing to experiment, take risks, and not afraid of failure; regularly seek feedback and use feedback to improve they work; and a positive attitude to carrying out the responsibilities of their position.

USD $65.000 - USD $75.000

Compensación

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 annually. The Project Coordinator for the Dean will be expected to work in-person in New York City and will be an employee of the CUNY Research Foundation, which provides a generous and comprehensive benefits package. The person hired will report to the Dean of the Colin Powell School.
