Position Description:
This is a fast- paced position that requires initiative, skilled project coordination and implementation, research and writing ability, and relationship management. We desire a highly motivated person that is committed to social justice and has the keen ability to lead and coordinate projects, programs, and trainings, facilitate meetings and trainings, conduct research and data analysis, organize, and cultivate relationships among a myriad of stakeholder groups, and work as a member of the UPI team.
Position is local, with some remote capability as well as required in-person/in-field meetings/events.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinating and supporting the implementation of various technical assistance projects (both in-person and virtual as well as local and out-of-state), including but not limited to community safety assessments, comprehensive violence prevention/reduction strategy development, and violence reduction/prevention trainings.
• Developing agendas, coordinating planning meetings, organizing materials and presentations, conducting focus groups and interviews, etc.;
• Facilitating meetings, trainings, and assessments activities with violence impacted communities (both in-person and virtual and local and out-of-state);
• Coordinating and leading trainings including identifying subject matter experts, outreach, scheduling, logistics and development of training materials;
• Coordinating curriculum development and lesson plans for training sessions;
• Preparing administrative materials, agendas, and reports for meetings with collaborative partners
• Developing program reports, research summaries, and briefs;
• Cultivating and managing collaborative relationships with a broad array of stakeholders;
• Actively participating and represent UPI in meetings and forums with community members, public officials, law enforcement, statewide coalitions, and other subject matter experts;
• Working in alignment with other UPI projects to strengthen overall UPI mission;
• Working in alignment with organization-wide initiatives to strengthen overall organizational cohesion;
• Participating in agency wide planning, development and communication activities as needed and ensure
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with excellence. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
• A bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree preferred in relevant field of study including public policy, criminology, sociology, political science, public health, and others;
• Ability to work effectively with diverse people across the spectrum of socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, and gender orientation;
• Ability to work with violence impacted communities and community members in-person
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and a disposition to work in an organization focused on civil rights and equity;
• Background in technical assistance and program coordination is highly desired;
• General background in community-based non-profit work, social work, or other related field;
• Experience in group facilitation, project management and service delivery is highly desired;
• Experience in coordinating and training/teaching adult learners in traditional and non-traditional settings is highly desired;
• Experience in research and data analysis is desired;
• Ability to multi-task under high pressure while remaining highly organized;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (i.e., grant and report writing, outreach, facilitation, and message delivery);
• Strong analytical abilities, self-starter, organized, and detail oriented;
• Ability to take on responsibilities independently and work as a team with only general supervision;
• Strong internet research skills and very high computer proficiency;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Familiarity with various forms of social media.
• COVID-19 vaccination is required due to contractual requirements
Annual Salary and Benefits: $60,000 – $67,000. The Urban Peace Institute offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a fully paid medical plan. Additional benefits include dental, vision, life insurance, disability options, a flexible spending account, and 401k.
