Marketing & Recruitment Manager

Coro is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Marketing & Recruitment Manager to lead the organization's marketing, communications, and participant recruitment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in content development, social media management, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.


Position Overview

At Coro, we train leaders. The Marketing & Recruitment Manager will work in partnership with Coro’s Senior Director of Development, Chief Executive Officer, the External Affairs Team, and the Board of Directors to elevate our communications, website, public relations messages, and collateral to consistently articulate Coro’s mission, network stories, and impact. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into compelling and valuable messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical. This role is pivotal to Coro’s mission to train, support, and connect leaders to foster a thriving democracy and tackle society’s biggest challenges together. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of leadership experience in marketing and communications, as well as a deep curiosity and connection with the people, organizations, and entities that make up the civic fabric of San Francisco as a city and the Bay Area as a region.

Key Leadership Roles and Responsibilities 

Marketing & Brand

  • Oversee and lead Coro’s marketing and brand efforts including the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, event collateral, and Coro's website.
  • Serve as an organization-wide resource and partner with colleagues in program management to coordinate earned and owned media efforts to promote and support Coro’s leadership training programs.
  • Maintain and manage the Coro Editorial Calendar to guide all communications efforts in collaboration with the Coro team.
  • Write external communications such as direct mail appeal letters, Annual Reports, think pieces, and donor communications on a project basis. Support the team by editing written materials for a consistent voice.
  • Review promotional materials being created by other staff for consistency of brand and message.
  • Review website and online presence for consistency of brand and message, and supervise website, blog, and social media updates to ensure that new and consistent information is posted regularly.
  • Prioritize communications projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
  • Create relevant boilerplate language, a style sheet, and collect impact statistics for external messaging.


  • Serve as the primary recruiter for our esteemed civic engagement programs including the Fellows Program in Public Affairs, Women in Leadership, Lead Bay Area, and Exploring Leadership. 
  • Manage Coro’s use of LinkedIn Recruiter, support relationships with key community partners, and activate the Coro network.
  • Support potential participants through the application process.
  • Coordinate program selection activities for Exploring Leadership and the Fellows Program in Public Affairs, including day-long interview processes for multiple candidates and judges.

Key experience for this role

  • Track record of success in day-to-day operations of a marketing function;
  • Reputation as an outstanding project manager and leader, capable of understanding the big picture and having autonomy and directing their own work;
  • Previous success at multitasking, prioritizing, and maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing demands and priorities;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with high-profile and senior executives and effectively manage stakeholder relationships and requests;
  • Track record of promoting and nurturing collaboration across an organization and inspiring a team

Bonus points if you’ve got a good understanding of Coro Programs or other leadership training programs. 


This role will directly impact, support, and connect leaders from across the Bay Area with Coro. Your work will influence and change the leadership journeys of hundreds, and possibly thousands, of people. This role, in particular, has an exciting opportunity to help define and expand Coro’s marketing and recruitment efforts.


This is a full-time role. The salary range for this role is $90,000-100,000 annually, depending on experience. Coro benefits include medical, dental, 401k match, and a very generous PTO/flexible work policy. 

This is a Bay Area-based position. While we currently work both at home and in the office, the role will require being in-person at our Downtown San Francisco location on specific days of the week and on-site as needed for program, development, and event-related activities. Additionally, the Coro team gathers monthly in person at locations across the immediate Bay Area. You can learn more about our team here
