    Founded in 1973, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council champions and makes space for artists and community throughout the borough and beyond, and as NYC’s largest regrantor of city and state funding, awarding nearly 2 million to Manhattan based artists and art organizations. Through a unique model of private-public partnerships, LMCC creates opportunities for artists to advance in their careers and practices, providing grants, artists’ residencies, and exhibition and presentation opportunities. LMCC also produces public programming such as the River To River Festival, Open Studios, and curates and operates the newly renovated and expanded Arts Center at Governors Island, a 40,000 square foot arts space for residency programs, public presentations, and exhibitions.

    LMCC seeks a permanent full-time Venue & Operations Manager to join immediately. Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Operations, this person will have primary responsibility for supporting the space needs and logistics for a variety of programming and administrative activities at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island and other public venues and satellite spaces.

    Responsibilities Include

    Venue Management

    • Works with the VP of Administration and Operations, to coordinate site activation, move-ins and move-outs and improvements of all spaces, including the Arts Center, our office at Maiden Lane, and satellite spaces
    • Serves as point of contact with landlord, building management and related vendors, including café operator at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island
    • Conducts regular space walk-throughs and check-ups to ensure cleanliness and appropriate and safe usage of all LMCC spaces and shared equipment
    • Schedules facilities maintenance, cleaning, repairs, inspections, improvements and security
    • Works with IT team to troubleshoot and ensure smooth functioning of LMCC’s technology infrastructure, including its network, software, hardware, printers, phones and other tools

    Production Support

    • Acts as support staff for all LMCC spaces including productions, rentals, events, exhibitions, meetings, and other forums at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island.
    • Serves as support staff for offsite organization-wide events as needed
    • Oversees organization, tracking and maintenance of the A/V equipment storage room at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island and provides support of the A/V equipment storage room at LMCC’s office
    • Responds to equipment requests in a timely manner and provides guidance in production planning for LMCC events, residencies, and space rental activities

    Administrative Support

    • Assists in creating office procedures and systems and space use guidelines; and maintaining Office Guidelines Manual
    • Generates independent contract agreements as needed (based on experience)
    • Serves as support staff for organization-wide events as needed
    • Direct oversight of LMCC’s internship program; review internship applications, recruiting new interns from diverse backgrounds; orienting new interns
    • Other duties as assigned

    Key Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of experience in production, performing arts venues, art space exhibitions, gallery installations, or museums
    • 1-2 years of experience preferred in the production and execution of live events
    • Knowledge of general A/V equipment such as projectors, TVs, VCRs, DVD/CD players, speakers, and other sound equipment
    • Working knowledge of IT systems and management is a plus.
    • Valid driver’s license. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
    • A pleasant and collaborative demeanor when working with various stakeholders
    • Excellent organizational, written, verbal and analytical skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintain effective working relationships with collaborators and coworkers
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload and meet deadlines, as well as manage details while being graceful and diplomatic
    • Strong interest and/or knowledge of the diverse artistic disciplines LMCC presents and the communities we serve
    • Proficiency using Mac OS, Salesforce or equivalent database and Asana or task management tool

    Compensación

    The starting annual salary for this position is 60K and includes an attractive benefits package including health insurance, optional dental and vision plans, life insurance, four (4) weeks of annual vacation, plus generous personal and sick days. Health benefits begin three (3) months after the first date of employment.
