The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in project coordination or management, partnership development and collaboration, and experience with urban planning and park development processes. Experience working collaboratively is a must, as is a desire to work in a small nimble nonprofit environment on local environmental issues.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work with and support the Executive Director to advance multiple ongoing projects, a major priority being the comprehensive design and business planning for the adaptive reuse of Hangars 3 & 4 at Floyd Bennett Field
  • Create and manage internal tools for tracking all aspects of projects, including scopes of work, contracts and deliverables, schedules and timelines, funding and invoice payments, and public engagement
  • Support external relationships, communication, and coordination with external designers, planners, and other teams with whom we collaborate, including scheduling, meeting notes and follow-through
  • Support the ED on special initiatives such as academic studios, community collaborations, special event and project permits
  • Become versed in JBRPC’s mission and strategic direction, as well as relevant partner agency protocols, priorities, and reports, e.g., partnership design & construction project manuals, historic park and structures documentation, etc.
  • Participation in all partner project and JBRPC meetings
  • As needed, support public programs and events, volunteer stewardship projects, and various convenings as part of the JBRPC team

This position might be for you if…

  • you have a college degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy, project management, or a related field and 2+ years’ experience in coordination of planning-design-construction or similarly complex projects
  • you are excited to work in a small-but-mighty nimble nonprofit environment where everyone wears many hats, and eager to shape your professional growth with JBRPC
  • you’re hyper organized, have excellent planning and time management skills, and can successfully juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • you‘re process-oriented, a spreadsheets superstar, and present work that is clear, concise and logical
  • you’re comfortable working in Google Suite, Microsoft, Adobe (experience with GIS, AutoCAD or other related software a plus)
  • you are a self-starter with a positive, professional, can-do attitude and consistent follow-through
  • you are a stellar team member who also shines when working independently
  • you enjoy time outdoors throughout all seasons and weather conditions and are excited for opportunities to join JBRPC programs across our catchment area
  • you have the ability to flex your work schedule for JBRPC programs, site visits and other off-hours events
  • you have the ability to travel throughout JBRPC’s catchment area (a valid Driver's License is a plus)
