Reporting to the Managing Director of Development & Communications, the Corporate Partnerships Director (CPD) will lead stewardship of current corporate & foundation donors as well as identify and secure new funding to drive student impact through national service. The CPD, in partnership with site leadership and the Development & Communications team, is responsible for raising approximately $2.5 million annually. This is an opportunity for an effective relationship builder who can bring our education equity work to life through strong presentations, communication, and grant proposals that inspire corporate/foundation partners to invest financial resources, in-kind donations, and their expertise through tailored donor engagement that builds genuine connection. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver and strategic thinker who is committed to helping students reach their potential. This role manages a staff of two on the Corporate Partnerships Team within the City Year New York Development & Communications team.Job Description

Responsibilities

Corporate Revenue Strategy

  • Develop and implement a corporate partnerships strategy to increase funding for CYNY and position the organization as a premier education equity leader in the community
  • Strategize, oversee, and manage the Corporate Development Team’s cultivation and stewardship efforts for current and potential partners
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director of Development and Communications to create strategies to identify and secure new corporate supporters, leverage existing relationships, and increase multi-year commitments
  • Maintain an active pipeline of corporate prospects, with a focus on diversifying City Year’s support in key sectors
  • Create and adapt a variety of potential partnership opportunities, including benefits and engagement concepts that align with our program and goals
  • Oversee engagement strategy of existing Team and Program Sponsorships

New Corporate Sponsorship Cultivation

  • Leverage existing City Year programs, including Team Sponsorships, Program Sponsorships, corporate service days and gala fundraiser, and create new initiatives, to bring in additional corporate funding
  • Identify, engage, and cultivate a pipeline of corporate and foundation prospects that can make annual and multi-year investments at the $25,000+ level with an emphasis on the $100,000 Team Sponsor level
  • Oversee a team of two in ongoing research to identify potential corporate funders and develop outreach plans for promising opportunities
  • Create tailored proposals and leverage senior leadership, the Advisory Board, and external champions to identify, connect with, and secure new mutually beneficial partnerships.

Existing Partnership Management

  • Develop and deliver stewardship plans for all corporate partners, tailored to their interests and needs
  • Collaborate with City Year Headquarters and other City Year sites to develop and steward multi-site, regional, and national sponsors
  • Engage individual executives, within corporate partnerships, in support of strategic goals to cultivate new and existing individual donors and expand our brand presence in the NYC market
  • Strategize and pitch customized partnership opportunities to renew and increase gifts
  • Oversee writing, submission, and management of corporate grant proposals

Events & Donor Recognition

  • In collaboration with the Managing Director of Development & Communications and Advisory Board members, support corporate fundraising for annual events such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and Gala
  • Collaborate with the Development team to leverage events to increase corporate sponsorship, build a pipeline for Team and Program Sponsorships, and engage existing partners
  • Ensure existing and new corporate partners and donors are added to mailing lists and campaigns
  • Regularly monitor progress and follow up to ensure timely collection of gifts to meet quarterly goals

Staff Management and Site Leadership

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with direct reports and teammates by creating an environment of open and honest two-way communication
  • Provide both positive and constructive feedback and coaching to support direct reports development
  • Ensure the professional accountability for Corporate Team staff through clear expectations, weekly check-ins, and formal performance reviews
  • Serve as a department leader supporting cross-team collaboration and site success
  • Build and maintain relationships with all departments across the organization to ensure goal and engagement alignment
  • Actively contribute to and support our ongoing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging work
  • Partner with all City Year New York departments through site events, projects, and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of fundraising experience, preferably for a non-profit or educational organization, with proven ability to close five and six figure gifts
  • Strong knowledge base of all aspects of fundraising, particularly corporate and foundation giving, and a proven ability to deliver measurable results and meet fundraising goals
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team to meet fundraising goals
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences
  • Willingness to occasionally work irregular hours, such as early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to adapt and excel in diverse, youthful, high energy and rapidly changing environment
