Senior Director of Learning, Development, and Impact

The Senior Director of Learning, Development, and Impact is responsible for building a best-in-class training program that prepares City Year Greater Boston’s 200+ AmeriCorps members to impact student learning, engagement and achievement while also focusing on members’ professional development.


The Senior Director of Learning, Development and Impact will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of the learning and development strategy and differentiated curriculum to ensure all corps members develop as leaders and receive targeted training and support to deliver high-quality service to students in Boston Public Schools and Everett Public Schools. This person is responsible for ensuring corps member L&D solutions drive organizational impact and individual performance goals.


This position will also coordinate a comprehensive job training program for Service Delivery managers in partnership with the People team, Impact Directors, and Instructional Coaches. The Senior Director of Learning, Development, and Impact will build relationships with school-based leadership members and work closely with City Year Greater Boston’s entire Service Impact Department. This position will report to the Managing Director of Service Delivery and will supervise one Learning and Development Manager and the Director of Instructional Coaching.



Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a yearlong arc of learning for all AmeriCorps members (ACM) reflecting the trajectory of the experience and tiering for years as an ACM, aligned with national expectations, and meeting the needs of the local partner school districts
  • Collaborate with the National Learning and Development Team, the Corps Experience Director, Instructional Coaches and Impact Directors on the delivery of professional learning to AmeriCorps members during BTA, Mid-Year Summit, and monthly sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director of Impact, and the People Team to design and develop professional development to support Service Delivery directors and managers in their roles as coaches of and managers of school partnerships.
  • Work with school district points of contact responsible for professional development to coordinate and design joint professional development that ensures alignment between classroom instruction and AmeriCorps member support; and oversee additional support and training for Corps members as needed.
  • Work with the Analytics team to design and implement qualitative and quantitative evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness and applicability of the corps member and staff sessions, as well as the broader L&D strategy.
  • Use program evaluation data to adjust the L&D strategy as needed throughout the year while ensuring program modifications are supported by City Year and school-based leadership.
  • Ensure that all learning materials are available to ACMs, Impact Managers and Directors through a centralized and well-organized online access point.
  • Maintain and publish a yearlong learning and development calendar and an accompanying work plan that guides the work of the team and allows for effective progress monitoring.
  • Vet, secure and maintain a robust set of internal and external content experts to lead and facilitate content-based learning sessions.
  • Participate in instructional rounds and observation and coaching to help understand the training needs of AmeriCorps members throughout the course of the academic year.
  • Collaborate with Impact Managers and Instructional Coaches to support requests for school-based training.
  • Help coordinate and provide resources for on-site learning across departments.
  • Supervise, manage and coach the L&D Manager and Director of Instructional Coaching.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Managing Director of Impact.



Qualifications

Required:

  • Five years’ experience in adult and youth development learning or training-related position required with at least three years of leading a successful team.
  • Demonstrated experience designing curriculum, scope and sequence and facilitating training using adult learning principles.
  • Experience overseeing data collection and use to inform planning, design and decision making.
  • Demonstrated experience creating educational training programs aligned with school or district goals and standards.
  • Proven success building sustainable partnerships and positive working relationships with others.
  • Proven success operating in ambiguous and changing environments with the ability to lead a team to meet results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms and online survey tools required.


Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in education, youth development, and adult learning or equivalent field
  • Content expertise in English Language Arts, math or behavior management preferred.
  • Experience supporting K-12 classrooms, schools or similar learning environment required.
  • Experience working with K-12 population.
  • Experience using SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other Virtual Training Platforms.

Compensación
