The Program Manager is responsible for the coordination and effective execution of the No Kid Hungry New York (NKH NY) campaign. This includes developing strategies for aligning in-state staff and internal departments at Share Our Strength headquarters, managing reporting and tracking procedures, and managing relationships with key external partners across New York. Under the direction of the Director, the Program Manager will lead efforts to ensure stakeholders such as elected officials, school districts, donors, and other partners are regularly updated and engaged in our work. The Program Manager will also track maintain data and grant impact reporting, develop sustainable tracking processes for grants, and oversee partnership plans to ensure terms are being met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Manage outreach and engagement with schools, school districts and partner organizations around implementation of school nutrition programs, including providing technical expertise, and collaborate on resources and materials (toolkits, focus group materials, fact sheets, etc.) for stakeholders to support successful program implementation.
  • Represent No Kid Hungry New York at statewide and local conferences, and parent and coalition meetings for organizations working on child nutrition to continue to build new programmatic partners for No Kid Hungry efforts in New York State and speak on the importance of child nutrition programs.
  • Manage events which might include as New York School Breakfast day, annual contests supporting school nutrition staff, summer meals kick-offs and site visits to see programming, including coordinating with internal departments in the organization, creating materials, and managing timelines and budgets for activities.
  • Support and identify opportunities for new strategic partnerships with education associations, unions, and other key stakeholder organizations, and represent No Kid Hungry New York at coalition meetings in New York State City and New York State.
  • Develop a strategy for grant-making to school districts in New York State. Maintain a strong knowledge of metrics, strategies, best practices and program impact stories related to No Kid Hungry NY and grantees and develop strategies and plans for supporting advocacy and fundraising work both statewide and nationally.
  • Identify needed resources and materials for schools, community organizations, and other partners and work directly with Center for Best Practices and Communications colleagues on the development of public-facing materials and develop plans for dissemination of resources to target audiences.
  • Manage No Kid Hungry NY social media channels, including developing strategy to build social media presence and engagement across the state. 
  • Provide administrative and logistical support and coordinate invoicing for No Kid Hungry contractors and external vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

CONTACTS

 Has regular interaction with school districts, state agencies, No Kid Hungry partner organizations and consultants and with the internal Programs department, Communications and Shared Support teams.

SUPERVISION

 This individual has no supervisory responsibilities, and reports to the Director, No Kid Hungry New York.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office work environment with up to 25% regional travel post-pandemic travel restrictions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Exceptional attention to details and highly organized.
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of work experience in a professional environment; experience with school nutrition or outreach programs is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, and organize time and priorities. 
  • Ability to organize and manage data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations. 
  • Emotional intelligence and strong orientation towards customer service
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to collaborate and work well as a member of a team. 
  • Demonstrated passion for our work. 
  • Strong work ethic. 

FLSA CLASSIFICATION

This position is classified as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is ineligible for overtime pay.

COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

Compensación

Medical Insurance: (Provided by Cigna) 

Share Our Strength offers Open Access HMO and Open Access POS medical coverage to full-time employees. You are eligible on the first of the month following your start date. A percentage of the monthly premium is paid by Share Our Strength.  

Dental Insurance: (Provided by Metlife)

Share Our Strength offers the PPO dental coverage for full-time employees. You are eligible on the first of the month following your start date. A percentage of the monthly premium is paid by Share Our Strength.   

Vision Insurance: (Provided by VSP)

The premium for the employee is funded 100% by Share Our Strength. Full-time employees who wish to add spouse and/or dependents to the plan may do so without cost.

Group Life Insurance: (Provided by Lincoln)

Share Our Strength, provides group term life insurance up to 1 time your salary to $50,000.00 and accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Share Our Strength pays 100% of the premium. However you do have the option to buy additional insurance up to $500,000.

401(k) (Provided by Principal)

Share Our Strength offers a 401(k) plan for employees aged 21 and over. This is a tax deferred Annuity. After one year of service, you qualify for a discretionary match of 50% of the first 16% of pay if actively deferring. 

Short-Term Disability Insurance: (Provided by Lincoln)

Each active, full-time employee is eligible the first of the month following 90 days of employment for Short-Term Disability insurance. The premium for coverage is paid 100% by Share Our

Strength. An employee is paid at 60% of their weekly earnings ($1500 maximum benefit).

Long-Term Disability Insurance:  (Provided by Lincoln)

Each active, full-time employee is eligible the first of the month following 90 days of employment for Long-Term Disability insurance. The premium for coverage is paid 100% by Share Our

Strength. An employee is paid at 60% of their monthly earnings ($6000 maximum benefit).

Flexible Spending Accounts

Share Our Strength offers Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and child-care expenses. Contributions to the Flexible Spending account are made on a pretax basis.

Direct Deposit

Employees interested in having their paychecks deposited directly into their personal bank account must submit a voided check with routing and account number to the Benefits Administrator. 

Commuter Benefits

Employees are eligible to set aside pre-tax dollars for commuting costs including public transit and parking. 

Vacation

All full-time employees are entitled to paid vacation. The annual amount of eligible vacation days is based on number of years worked. In addition, Share Our Strength offices are closed between

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. 

Sick days

All full-time employees are entitled to a maximum of eight (8) paid sick days during each twelve-month period commencing on the date of hire. Employees are allowed to rollover sick leave each year with a maximum accumulation of 160 hours (20 days).

Personal days

A maximum of four (4) days or 32 hours is allotted for personal days.

Bereavement Days

Up to three (3) days, at the discretion of a Director, may be allowed for the death of a family member.

Holidays

Share Our Strength observes all federal holidays. 

Community Service

Share Our Strength supports its staff by providing paid time off for community service up to eight (8) hours per calendar year. Employees must successfully complete their first 90 days of employment and will need supervisor approval before being eligible for this benefit. 

Jury Duty

If an employee is called to serve on jury duty, he or she should notify his or her supervisor immediately. All employees will be paid while on jury duty. 

Parental Leave

All full-time employees are entitled to a maximum of sixteen (16) paid weeks off for Parental Leave after nine (9) months of full-time continuous employment. 

Student Loan Relief Program

All full-time staff employees who have completed at least ninety (90) days of service and with performance meeting or exceeding expectations are eligible to participate in the Student Loan Relief Program.  Eligible staff members may be considered for loan repayment assistance up to $1,500 per fiscal year, with a $7,500 lifetime maximum.

Supplemental Insurance (Provided by Aflac)

This benefit offers financial assistance in the event that you are not able to work as well as help supplement the incremental insurance cost for accidents, hospital admissions and critical illnesses.

Universal Life Insurance (Provided by Transamerica)

This benefit offers permanent life insurance that has long term care as well as cash value that you can borrow against.

Pet Insurance (Provided by Nationwide)

This benefit offers a reimbursement indemnity plan for eligible veterinary expenses related to accidents, injuries and illness in addition to wellness coverage (routine preventive exams and services).

Identity Protection (Provided by AllState)

This benefit offers protection from a wide range of identity threats for you and your family. 

Free Membership Calm App

Staff are able to access the Calm app for free to take advantage of the meditations, sleep stories, and music features.
