ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide direct comprehensive case management to refugees; including advocacy, interpretation/translation, transportation, orientation/education, and other support services as needed
  • Educate refugee clients on topics related to the U.S. health system and health-related issues
  • Provide orientation in public transportation and the health care system
  • Conduct outreach and education to multicultural communities
  • Prepare outreach and education materials and brochures
  • Network and maintain updated knowledge of community resources
  • Maintain updated knowledge of refugee-related issues
  • Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping
  • Report weekly activities to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Submit monthly reports to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly supervision meetings
  • Ensure meeting of program needs through ongoing program evaluation
  • Miscellaneous assignments as requested by Program Director

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a human service field.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Effective communication skills with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to be flexible to meet program needs.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in basic technology skills, including Microsoft Office and email.
  • Bilingual in English and Pashto or Dari

PREFERRED

  • Experiences in refugee and immigrant services
  • Knowledge and experience with local community resources.
  • Knowledge and experience in handling crisis situations using professional judgment and ethical practice.
