Salary: $75,000-$85,000 commensurate with qualifications, includes a competitive benefits package, and subject to location-based adjustment

Travel: Some business travel may be required, including overnight stays

Position Description

The Manager, Impact Communications & Multimedia Content position is a strategic role focused on leveraging impact communications and multimedia content creation to drive the global-scale transformation to water resilience. This new role is an exciting opportunity to tangibly advance the Pacific Institute’s work by amplifying thought leadership, scaling the uptake of water policy and practice recommendations, and driving strong organizational voice in the global water space.

 

The position will focus on packaging quantitative data/metrics and compelling qualitative storytelling to scale the Pacific Institute’s work and drive behavior change among key audiences and stakeholder groups, including water policy and practice decisionmakers, elected officials, corporate leaders, foundation funders, and major donors. Multimedia content created will span publications, social media, video, web/digital, and other emerging and innovative content types.

 

The role is designed for a creative and seasoned multimedia communicator with exceptional writing, data analysis, and multimedia storytelling skills. The ideal candidate will leverage experience communicating both qualitative and quantitative data; experience with and/or passion for water, climate, and/or sustainability communications; and experience in behavior change-focused communications, development/fundraising communications, and/or policy communications. Specific consideration given to candidates with experience working with impact measurement and/or communicating the impact of NGOs. Further consideration provided to candidates with experience working in the global water and/or climate policy space and/or on environmental equity/justice issues.

 

This role reports to the Director of Communications and Outreach, while collaborating with the broader Communications and Outreach Team, a range of external vendors/agencies, and a wide range of internal stakeholders, including researchers, policy/practice advocacy leaders, business engagement professionals, and development colleagues, across the organization. The position will focus primarily, although not entirely, on the following areas:

 

·        Impact Communications (30%):

o  Inspire behavior change among key audiences through the creation of captivating storytelling and multimedia content. Write compelling content on behalf of the Pacific Institute and its thought leaders.

o  Coordinate systematic collection of impact-focused compelling storytelling opportunities across the organization. Coordinate centralized database of impact storytelling opportunities for programmatic work.

o  Combine quantitative impact metrics with compelling qualitative storytelling to manage content for quarterly multimedia impact statements and annual multimedia impact report.

o  Lead on multimedia content calendar, including backwards-planned production schedules, for organization. Coordinate with outside vendors and/or agencies involved in copywriting, design, etc. Coordinate content review processes.

o  Develop multimedia content that is on brand for social media, press releases, blogs, newsletters, emails, video, web, and other channels. Contribute to content strategy for website.

o  Using newly developed Impact Measurement Framework, coordinate consistent and systematic presentation of impact metrics across the organization, including managing the presentation of data for quarterly and annual dashboards.

 

·        CEO Water Mandate Multimedia Content (30%):

o  Develop and/or manage on-brand multimedia content designed to recruit companies to join the CEO Water Mandate and increase their participation in related programs, including the Water Resilience Coalition and WASH4Work.

o  Multimedia content to include brochures, web copy, social media campaigns, annual reports, videos, and research reports.

o  Manage and operationalize annual multimedia content calendar, including backwards-planned production schedules, for CEO Water Mandate. Coordinate with outside vendors involved in copywriting, design, etc. Coordinate content review processes.

 

 

·        Research Report Releases and Policy/Practice Advocacy Campaigns (20%):

o  Write compelling content to support research report releases and policy/practice advocacy campaigns.

o  Develop multimedia content for social media, press releases, blogs, newsletters, emails, video, web, and other channels.

o  Coordinate with outside agencies and other vendors.

o  Contribute to the publishing process for research reports.

 

·        Development/Fundraising Content (20%):

o  Contribute to development-focused content strategy across website, social media, newsletter, and mailings.

o  Generate compelling multimedia content (printed collateral, website, email appeals, newsletters, etc.) to motivate support from key development audiences, including major donors (existing and prospective) and foundation officers.

o  Develop social media and video series, such as donor profile series.

 

Desired Qualifications

 

·        Truly exceptional multimedia storytelling vision.

·        Experience working with impact measurement and/or communicating the impact of NGOs/think tanks by coupling quantitative outcome and impact data with compelling storytelling to achieve desired outcomes with key audiences and stakeholder groups.

·        5+ years’ experience in behavior change-focused strategic communications, impact communications, development/fundraising communications, and/or policy communications with a specific focus on water, climate, environmental justice, and/or sustainability topics.

·        Proven expertise in social media strategy and content creation across new and emerging social media platforms.

·        5+ years’ experience focused on multimedia content creation across annual reports/impact reports, social media, press releases, interactive websites, newsletters, blogs, email appeals, videos, podcasts, etc.

·        Strong quantitative data analysis skills. Exceptional writing and editing skills.

·        Experience working collaboratively with internal subject-matter experts and externally with agencies, designers, and other vendors to create compelling, vetted, and accurate content.

·        Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Sustainability, Environmental Policy, Environmental Education, Marketing, or related discipline.

·        Experience working cross functionally and globally. Appreciation for fast-paced work environment. Excellent time-management and organizational skills; attention to details; ability to meet frequent deadlines; strong experience developing and working with backwards-planned production calendars.

·        Team orientation and commitment to reaching team goals. Creative; strategic thinker; willing to propose innovative ideas; flexible; curious; go-getter.

·        Leverages strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across team, organizations, and external partners/vendors.

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Photoshop.

·        Supporting communications objectives outside of business hours, including during evenings and/or weekends, as periodically needed.
