Position Summary
Centro Legal seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee the growing Accounting department. The Accounting Manager plays a leadership role in the accounting and administrative functions. This position performs and oversees critical accounting activities according to GAAP including compiling, analyzing, and reporting accounting data, leading the annual audit and information requirement for tax filings.
Primary Responsibilities
Accounting
● A strong commitment to timely and accurate financial recordkeeping.
● Provides oversight to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, and past due account management.
● Ensures appropriate documentation is prepared and maintained to support grant reporting, and external audits.
● Prepares Journal entries required for-end-of the month, including accruals and adjustments. ● Oversee the proper recording of source of funding per GAAP.
● Manage staff expense reporting system (Concur) review and approve payments.
● Ensures appropriate use of restricted funds and accurate and timely account for the release of restricted funds.
● Tracks grants expenditures and staff allocations for key programs.
● Completes monthly account reconciliations.
● Prepares monthly Accounting reporting periodic financial reports.
● Manages the organization’s annual audit process to ensure compliance with all FASBI, GAAP, and 990 rules for nonprofits.
● With the Finance Director, works with external services such as banks, insurances and landlords’ issues.
● With the Finance Director, reviews and explains operational budget variances (actuals vs budget variances) makes recommendations for adjustments.
● Maintains all organizational filing, permits, Business Property Statements, 501(c)(3) status, etc. Leading and Development
● Supervising, mentoring, and ensuring ongoing professional development for finance staff ● Foster an environment of learning and development utilizing a coaching style
● Encourage an environment of improvement and finding efficiencies
● Provides continuous coaching and feedback
Qualifications
First and foremost, the applicant must profoundly share Centro Legal’s mission and vision of racial, economic, and social justice. Qualifications include:
● Minimum of 3 years of accounting management experience, preferably within a non-profit organization
● At least 5+ years of broad accounting experience. Grant Accounting experience is a plus. ● BA in Accounting
● Proven record of having led and developed teams
● Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Customer Relationships ● Strong working knowledge of fund accounting and auditing procedures, preferably within a non profit organization.
● Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work respectfully with a diverse group of people. ● Excellent written and oral communication skills.
● Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manages multiple deadlines
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full time exempt position that is competitive and commensurate with experience ranging from $85,663-$92,982. This is a full time exempt position.
