Supervisor:  Senior Associate Director of Religious Education & Youth

Schedule:    Full-Time

Congregation Rodeph Sholom (CRS) is a large dynamic Reform synagogue at the heart of Manhattan’s Upper West Side and has a strong 180-year history.  ABOUT YOU

CRS is looking for an extremely organized and detail-oriented person who can effectively manage multiple priorities and be invested in the mission of the Religious Education and Youth program. This person must be comfortable providing educational (60%) and administrative (40%) support, specifically for Shabbat, holiday, youth group programming, and curricular implementation, and be invested in the mission of the Religious Education and Youth program.  

The successful candidate seamlessly manages programmatic and administrative priorities, understands and plans for programmatic needs, is a strategic thinker who also enjoys rolling up their sleeves and assisting as needed, and has a warm and welcoming customer-service approach to working with families and youth.

 WORK SCHEDULE   

Our team works primarily in the office, with the ability to work remotely at specified times throughout the year. This position has some weekend/Jewish holiday responsibilities. All of our team members must be flexible and able to adapt to short- and long-term shifts in their job duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Collaborate with the department to manage program logistics: location, reservations, requirements, travel, invitations, supplies, rsvp’s, food orders, etc.

·       Manage communication with families (answering questions & following up on phone and e-mail inquiries)

·       Support the team in preparing annual, monthly and weekly program calendars and serve as liaison to Operations to ensure smooth implementation of programming.

·       Assist with pre-program and onsite logistics for the following: High Holy Day Children and Teen Experience, monthly Friday Family Shabbat Together, holidays, Adventures/Discoveries/Teens, Jr. Youth Groups and Gotham BBYO.

·       Support administration for youth NOLA and Berlin trips.

·       Prepare for and work at weekend youth events. 

·       Miscellaneous administrative support (photocopying, database updates, creating and sending communications to teachers and families, etc.).

·       Perform other related duties as assigned or required to meet the needs of the Religious Education and Youth department. 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor’s degree.

·       1-2 years’ experience in project management, administration, educational/camp setting

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Constant Contact, Power Point, Mail Merge, database management, and Google Workspace. 

·       Ability to learn new programs that are specific to temple management.

·       Knowledge of synagogue life and Jewish practice preferred.

·       Experience leading or supporting programs, coordinating events is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·       Ability to navigate a physically active position during educational programming hours that includes climbing up and down stairs, and carrying materials up to 10 pounds to various rooms in the building.

VACCINATION POLICY

·    All staff must be fully vaccinated, including booster shot. Proof of vaccination is required.
