About the Berkeley Public Schools Fund 

 

The mission of the Berkeley Public Schools Fund (the Schools Fund) is to champion equitable public education for students, families and our community. 

 

The Schools Fund is a small non-profit (currently 7 employees) that supports the  Berkeley Unified School District, a medium-sized district with a diverse population of 10,000 students and 19 schools, through equity-focused programming. Our core programs include educator grants, district-wide volunteer programs, STEM programming and fiscal sponsorships. 

 

The Schools Fund staff and board are deeply committed to reducing disparities in educational experiences and outcomes in Berkeley schools.



Finance

  • Maintain records of financial transactions in Quickbooks 
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable 
  • Maintain chart of accounts 
  • Manage grant and fiscal sponsorship funds


Development

  • Maintain donor databases and records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information on contributions, pledges, and donor acknowledgements
  • Provide administrative support to the fundraising team as needed


Office Management

  • Monitor schoolsfund@berkeley.net email and voicemails
  • Oversee purchase of office supplies by office staff as needed (paper, toner, etc.) 
  • Maintain & troubleshoot office equipment 


Miscellaneous Administrative, clerical, events, and logistical support; miscellaneous

  • Help coordinate, plan & execute events as needed: Donor Events, Principals Reception, Grantee Showcase, Block Party, other special events
  • Support some routine office tasks for Berkeley Schools Volunteers
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director, Director of Development or Director of Finance & Operations


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CRM databases (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Familiarity with finance software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) 
  • 2+ Years of experience a plus  
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and follow through
  • Comfortable and effective at self-managing
  • Demonstrated flexibility in dynamic work environments


Job Requirements

  • Hybrid role, with at least 2 in-person days per week

Compensación

  • Benefits package that includes: 3 weeks of vacation (prorated for part-time)  & standard sick time accrual; 18 total paid federal + BUSD holidays (prorated for part-time) ; 401k retirement fund (no employer match) 
  • Flexible work schedule: option to work primarily from the office, primarily from remote or split, with at least 2 day/week in person
