JOB POSTING
Position Title: Engineer for Enforcement Program
Location: Washington, DC or Remote
Date Posted: July 18, 2025
BACKGROUND ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRITY PROJECT
The Environmental Integrity Project (EIP) is America’s environmental watchdog. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting public health and our natural resources by holding polluters and government agencies accountable under the law. We advocate for tough but fair environmental standards and empower communities fighting for clean air and water.
Our team of lawyers, analysts, engineers, and communications professionals provide support to communities fighting David vs. Goliath battles against some of the biggest polluters in the U.S. We sue not only corporations that don’t follow the law, but also federal and state agencies when they fail to do their jobs to protect public health and the environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
EIP is accepting applications for an Engineer to join our team working to hold industrial polluters and federal and state agencies accountable for compliance with the Clean Air Act and other environmental laws. Working with EIP’s team of lawyers and analysts, the Engineer, who will support EIP’s Enforcement Program, will work to reduce pollution from industrial sources through litigation. EIP takes legal action to clean up pollution; we publish data-driven reports that push federal and state regulators to better protect public health; and we work with frontline communities to provide the resources they need to obtain the protection of our environmental laws.
EIP is a national organization with strong partnerships with frontline communities and organizations in the Gulf States, Ohio River Valley, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions. We are dedicated to reducing the enormous amount of climate, air, and water pollution generated by the fossil fuel power sector and industries that extract, store, or process oil or natural gas to make fuel, chemicals and plastics, fertilizers, and other petrochemical products. EIP work also targets pollution from other sectors, including steel manufacturing, landfills and trash incinerators, and aluminum production. EIP’s Center for Applied Environmental Science (CAES) ensures that local communities and environmental advocates have access to high-quality science and engineering expertise.
The Engineer position will support these programs and can be based in Washington, DC or remote. The position may require occasional travel throughout the U.S.
