Communications and Outreach Manager for University of Maryland Fellows (including Maryland Fellows, Federal Fellows, and Global Fellows)

University of Maryland Fellows, a dynamic set of programs (including Maryland Fellows, Federal Fellows, and Global Fellows DC) that prepare talented students to excel in internships and lead careers of positive impact and leadership in the world, is hiring a Communications and Outreach Manager. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for innovation and for making a difference. The Communications and Outreach Manager provides initiative, planning and management for communications, outreach, marketing, content of websites and social media platforms, and alumni relations for the programs. This manager will also participate in advising and coaching students. This position requires planning and decision-making as well as independence of action and judgement. This is a great position for a master communicator with stellar interpersonal skills, a passion for public service and/or internationalism, and a desire to empower students. Key responsibility areas:

• Designing and managing the programs’ public presence and external relations as well as student recruitment outreach
• Advising students, managing events, and developing internship opportunities
• Cultivating connections and engagement with alumni and program partners

Requirements include

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• 2-4 years experience in communications, marketing outreach, and content management
• Ability to develop an effective communication and outreach plan and successfully deliver
• Demonstrated expertise in maintenance of internal information systems as well as proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and HTML
• Exemplary writing, proofreading, and copy editing skills
• Knowledge and experience with updating websites and conducting outreach through various social media platforms
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent problem-solving skills
• Outstanding management and organizational skills including for alumni outreach and record keeping
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, diverse environment
