In addition to a talented cadre of environmental lawyers and legislative advocates, Earthjustice has an amazing communications department that works in partnership with every other department at the organization. The Public Affairs and Communications Strategist works closely with the attorneys, policy staff, clients, and coalition partners to develop and implement strategic communications —including issue management, government relations, dynamic storytelling, media, and public outreach and engagement—to support priority litigation and legislative advocacy in our docket and to help build Earthjustice’s profile.
The Public Affairs and Communications Strategist serves as the liaison to the Fossil Fuels Program and the Gulf Regional Office. This role supports Earthjustice’s work to stop fossil fuel and petrochemical expansion, protect public health and cut pollution in frontline communities, and drive an equitable transition to clean energy. This person works directly with the Public Affairs and Communications Officer, Climate & Energy to coordinate on intersecting national issues to adopt consistent framing, messaging, and narrative lens to our work.
Candidates willing to work from our Houston office under our hybrid model are strongly preferred. We will also consider remote candidates in New Orleans, Chicago, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia.

Remote-Pennslyvania (specific range will depend on city): $96,200-$113,200
Chicago, IL: $107,600-$119,500
