Project & Partnership Steward

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director of Innovation and Design Strategy, the Project & Partnership Steward will support weaving programs and service offerings across the Movement Infrastructure and Innovation Team by bringing a high level of operational excellence through creative, strategic, and effective project management.  This role joins a team with Project Advisors, the Director of Fiscal Sponsorship, the Director of Innovation and Design Strategy, and the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer to help make the work of movement building more easeful, more impactful, more transformative, and more joyful by providing fiscal sponsorship infrastructure, strategic thought partnership and leadership, capacity building, and network weaving. The Project & Partnership Steward will collaborate with the MIIC Team, across MSC departments, and with external partners to ensure our project based strategies are designed with elegance and implemented with care. The steward will play a primary role in supporting contracts and collaborations with external partners, and managing our onboarding and offboarding process with fiscal sponsorship partners. 

ABOUT COMPANY 

Founded in 2001, Movement Strategy Center over the last two decades has been a social and environmental justice incubator, serving as a movement hub for both housing visionaries and emergent networks, and providing core intermediary functions to advance ecosystem-wide  impact: resourcing a robust and maturing ecosystem of leaders, networks, and projects, and offering core infrastructure support through fiscal sponsorship and philanthropic services. In recent years, MSC’s in-house incubation efforts have focused on cross-sector movement  building to cultivate the power necessary to accelerate a just transition from a world of  domination, extraction, and violence, where the few live at the expense of the many – to a world  of interdependence, liberation, and resilience, where the many govern for the benefit of all. MSC centers on Black, Indigenous, and people of color intergenerational systems leaders and networks that are committed to transformation and boldly leaning into the future and whose  communities are most impacted by extraction, domination, and violence. 

MSC understands that transformative movements change the way we think, our structures and  systems, the way we live, and even who we are. We recognize that we are whole people, and  whole communities, and because the issues and problems we face are interconnected, our  systemic solutions and movements must be interconnected as well. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

  • Support developing proposals, scopes of work, and project roadmaps that thoughtfully align our values, goals and outcomes with project based strategies.
  • Contribute to the design strategy of each project ensuring vision, team, tasks, timeline, and budget are elegantly aligned to best achieve transformative impact. 
  • Work with project teams to develop needed protocols that cultivate the conditions for success.
  • Maintain communication with the project team and relevant stakeholders in a timely, appropriate and effective way, ensuring all project partners have the information they need to be successful in their role. 
  • Keep a broad perspective, proactively anticipating needs and challenges to help projects to stay within scope, in budget and on time.
  • Collaborate across functions within MSC to ensure project needs, expectations, and deliverables are properly aligned and supported. 
  • Support in the design and development of materials (slide decks, frameworks, reports, etc) that advance alignment and clarity amongst project team and stakeholders. 
  • Manage administrative tasks including but not limited to budgeting, contracts, internal documentation, and scheduling.
  • Develop and maintain systems for data management.
  • Schedule and help facilitate team meetings (in person and virtually) with relevant project stakeholders. 
  • Process invoices.
  • Contribute to learning and evaluation strategy, maintaining this awareness through project implementation and designing and developing evaluation touchpoints.

Partner Experience (Onboarding and Offboarding)

  • In partnership with the department leads, facilitate a comprehensive partner intake and onboarding process (for both MSC Action Fund and MSN incubated projects)
  • Ensure accurate and timely transition of incoming new projects’  agreements, and data entry/management of critical documentation in Egnyte
  • Project manage tasks and decisions of each phase related to partner on/offboarding including review, audit, approvals, exit interviews, etc.
  • Perform ongoing status checks with MIIC team, and partner, on the progress of on/offboarding action items to ensure continued progress toward completion by end date.
  • Provide support to partners and service team members throughout the entirety of the on/offboarding process.
  • Facilitate healthy collaboration across departments to ensure an efficient and easeful on/offboarding process. 
  • Proactively identify emerging trends and opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and sustainability.

  • Excellent communication (verbal, written) and facilitation skills, able to communicate with diverse stakeholders with empathy, honesty, and clarity and have discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Able to establish and streamline structures, protocols, and workflow processes ensuring accuracy, accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness. 
  • Capable of performing administrative tasks and working independently on self-directed projects.
  • Proficient in technology, particularly Google Suite, Zoom, and online work productivity and collaboration tools (both project management platforms, virtual whiteboards, data viz platforms and graphic design tools).

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in fiscal sponsorship, 501c4, hybrid organizations, or design related fields is a plus
  • Prior experience navigating organizational change and transitions preferable
  • Familiarity with network structures and strategies is a plus

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This role does not supervise other employees. 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Daily schedule is flexible within the proximity of this time frame, and will be decided in consultation with the supervisor.

Willingness to travel occasionally.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • 100% FTE, salaried exempt position. Annual gross pay is $67k-80k. 
  • MSC’s 100% FTE benefits package includes:
  • 20 days vacation leave per year.
  • 13 standard holidays, and 2 personal days per year (your personal days are designated as your birthday and hire date anniversary, and should be taken on these dates).
  • 12 sick days per year.
  • 12 weeks of family paid leave, no tenure required
  • Medical, vision, dental for employees and dependents (Eligible the first day of the following month from date of hire and requires a per pay period employee contribution).
