What’s the job and who is Nuru?

The Senior Implementation Associate’s job is to track the implementation status of all ongoing grants across Nuru’s work portfolio and coordinate the timely and accurate completion of all reporting. They will be a backstop and coordinator across a global work portfolio and a range of large and small funders. Bridging the operations, business development, monitoring, and communications efforts, the Senior Implementation Associate will support day-to-day and week-to-week performance for Nuru organizations in Africa.

Founded in 2008, Nuru establishes locally-led NGO’s in sub-Saharan Africa which work to eradicate extreme poverty and unlock economic potential in rural farmer communities. This goal is achieved by transitioning vulnerable smallholder farmers from subsistence to professionalized farming as a business. While Nuru staff technically work for separate and distinct locally-run organizations based in various countries, we all operate under a shared vision to cultivate lasting meaningful choices in the most vulnerable and marginalized communities in the world. 

Nuru has been a fully remote team since 2008 and will continue to be one. All Nuru staff members work from a location of their choice. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain a day-to-day awareness and ongoing log of activity implementation and reports coming due.
  • Communicate activity implementation under way across Nuru operations.
  • Build, maintain and communicate a system to track on activity implementation in line with operational plans and stakeholder commitments.
  • Signal upcoming deadlines on reporting and assist on report preparation.
  • Assist counterparts at Nuru International and other Nuru Collective organizations to implement and report with excellence.
  • Backstop business development and reporting efforts by bridging implementation with development team members.

What you should have:

  • Exceptional communication and digital organizational skills.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English and French.
  • Experience with project implementation (NGO experience within Africa is a plus).

The interview process has several stages: an interview with HR, followed by an interview with the supervisor for this role, and a job simulation activity concluding with a panel interview. We use Google Meets for all interviews.
