The Financial Aid Coordinator, Operations ensures the smooth functioning of the Office of Financial aid, serving as first point of contact for all Financial Aid inquiries, responding to inquiries from applicants, students, and parents. The Coordinator also serves as primary support for all student employment functions. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Financial Aid, this person is part of a team of six professional staff and serves as the administrative assistant to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Development.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days in the office each week. The salary for this role will be $48,000 - $50,000 per year.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Serves as first point of contact for all visitors to the Office of Financial Aid. Responds to a high daily volume of email and phone calls.
  • Provides back-up support to the Student Employment Manager by assisting with onboarding, data entry and payroll processing.
  • Counsels new and continuing students on financial aid programs and policies. Manages the flow of sensitive documents, reviewing documents for accuracy, entering data, and maintaining a communications calendar of reminders.
  • Maintains schedule for one or more supervisors, including organizing and coordinating meetings, conference calls, webinars, etc. 
  • Assists supervisors with various departmental projects, including research and document editing, website updates, creation of surveys, etc.
  • Provides general office support and maintains the physical office space.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • One to two years of experience working in a college student employment, financial aid, or bursar’s office, or other relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and a willingness and aptitude for learning new programs.
  • Commitment to diversity and the mission of the Juilliard School; cultural competency in dealing with people from varied backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening skills.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a fast-paced educational and artistic community. Attitude of flexibility, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • The ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students and families, faculty, and administrators) with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to work independently, perform multiple tasks under pressure, maintain attention to detail, and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Background:

  • Administrative experience beyond minimum requirements
  • Familiarity with Oracle or PeopleSoft Information Systems and Technolutions Slate systems a plus.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the performing arts
