Position Summary:

Located in the quaint town of South Royalton on the banks of the White River, Vermont Law and Graduate School (VLGS) offers law and master’s degrees to students who seek to embody the motto, “Law for the community and the world.” Its 8,000+ alumni live in all 50 states, three territories, and several dozen countries, and work in government, for nonprofits, in private practice, and in industry. The law school has long been distinguished in environmental law and experiential learning, and the graduate school houses unique master’s degrees in environmental policy and restorative justice. VLGS welcomed a new president in July 2022 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary beginning in 2023. A capital campaign is being planned to support implementation of the 2021 strategic plan.

The new role of Director will oversee all aspects of fundraising for the annual fund—the school’s top development priority. The Director will develop and implement a year-round strategy for the annual fund, manage leadership annual giving, including the Leaders’ Circle giving society, a portfolio of donors who make five-year pledges of $5,000 to $25,000, oversee peer-to-peer outreach efforts in support of milestone reunion and class giving, and develop targeted strategies focused on various constituent groups (parents, faculty/staff, students). Success in this role is measured by meeting goals for the annual fund and for the alumni giving rate. The Director will join a small, highly collaborative team devoted to advancing VLGS philanthropically.

While our preference is for this role to work full time on our SoRo campus, we are open to exploring hybrid models involving the VLGS office in downtown Burlington, VT or other arrangements.
