    About Americans United

Americans United for Separation of Church and State is a nonpartisan educational and advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the constitutional principle of church-state separation as the only way to ensure freedom of religion, including the right to believe or not believe, for all of us. Founded in 1947, Americans United is a diverse and dynamic organization composed of people from all walks of life: lawyers and lobbyists, students and activists, religious leaders and impassioned Americans. AU includes people of faith and people who don’t profess any particular faith. It is a community that welcomes people of all genders, races, ethnicities, religions or beliefs, sexual orientations, ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities. Because we work on a wide variety of issues with many different communities, we value what diversity and diverse perspectives bring to our work.

    Position Summary

The Donor Engagement Manger is responsible for securing funds for the organization by strategically building relationships with mid-level donors, uncovering and connecting to the donor’s passions and interests, expanding the donor’s engagement and philanthropy, and improving the flow of donors into more transformational giving.

      • Create and manage strategic communications plans that are personalized by tier, driven by the donor’s passions and interests and communications preferences, and execute that plan, with an intentional focus on engaging top tier donors.
      • Promptly report back on impact and thank donors for their gifts.
      • Listen for indicators to move a donor to major gift or planned giving and execute any donor hand-offs according to the organization’s protocols.
      • Collaborate across the organization to develop engaging communications materials, implement a smooth donor journey from acquisition to major gifts or planned giving, and create thoughtful protocols that allow donors to reach their full potential.
      • Perform other mid-level donor activities as required by management.
    • Reporting
      • Actively record the creation and execution of moves management plans in CRM system (currently EveryAction).

    • Minimum of 4 years of successful hands-on experience in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of mid-level donors and prospects.
