THE PULMONARY HYPERTENSION ASSOCIATION:

Founded in 1991 by patients, for patients, the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is the oldest and largest nonprofit patient association in the world dedicated to the pulmonary hypertension community. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a rare, chronic and life-threatening disease of the lungs for which no cure currently exists. Our mission is to extend and improve the lives of those affected by PH. To achieve our mission, PHA engages people with PH and their families, caregivers, healthcare providers and researchers worldwide who work together to advocate for the PH community, provide support to patients, caregivers and families, offer up-to-date education and information on PH, improve quality patient care and fund and promote research.

GENERAL SUMMARY POSITION:

The Development Coordinator provides event support to PHA’s Development and Industry Relations department. The Development Coordinator supports all aspects of the department’s strategy, providing assistance and support for fundraising events and other Development projects that grow the organization's revenue through corporate, individual, volunteer and community involvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Support the fundraising events program by creating online event website pages in Team Raiser and managing email communications to supporters; maintain the PHA website’s fundraising events page.

·        Provide administrative support to third party volunteer event organizers to provide guidance and logistical support to facilitate successful and profitable events.

·        Remotely recruit onsite event volunteers through volunteer groups, corporate volunteer programs and community outreach.

·        Collaborate with and manage lead volunteers in assigned events to ensure revenue targets are achieved.

·        Provides financial input including forecast updates and revenue reports.

·        Provide fundraising coaching to assigned events focusing on fundraising best practices and tactics.

·        Perform duties for fundraising activities that include event logistics, social media planning & implementation, and collateral design.

·        Learn and understand the organization’s strategic direction and purpose, vision and mission, and support fundraising strategies and development operation needs.

·        Organize and maintain development events files.

·        Represent organization at fundraising events.

·        Respond to donor-related inquiries and correspondence.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

·        Minimum of 2+ years of fundraising experience and event planning required.

·        Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required

·        Experience with donor databases required; experience with Blackbaud Luminate Online/Team Raiser and Raiser’s Edge preferred.

·        Experience coordinating volunteers, staff and internal and external resources.

·        Excellent relationship building and networking skills required.

·        Demonstrated passion for fundraising and commitment to mission.

·        Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams.

·        Excellent written, oral, presentation and communication skills.

·        Excellent project management skills.

·        Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

·        Reports to Director, Fundraising Events.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work will require some weekend and/or evening work and domestic travel. During peak times, travel up to 40% will be required.

LOCATION: Office is in Silver Spring, Maryland.

TEMPORARILY REMOTE: PHA employees are currently working from home due to COVID-19 conditions. We plan to return to the office when it is safe to do so. This position may begin on a remote basis but will be required to travel to the office on an ad hoc basis.
