With support from partners around the world, Special Olympics is continuing to grow the global reach and impact of its youth development programming.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design and implementation of the next generation of Special Olympics youth development work that develops the capacity and skills for youth voice and empowerment. The Manager, Global Youth Training and Resources will oversee the maintenance and evolution of existing youth development training opportunities and resources, as well as develop the vision and strategy for new training approaches. Through partnership with an educational institution, this position will work to apply a newly developed youth leadership framework to all aspects of Special Olympics youth training and curriculum, including the trainings offered at Youth Leadership Summits around the globe. Importantly, this role will work closely with partners – individuals, organizations and institutions – on content development, positioning, monitoring and evaluating efficacy and scaling trainings globally.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive resource creation and the building of Technical Assistance resources to support with programmatic growth and the expansion youth development programming
  • Build and publicize compelling storytelling, narratives, and other innovative approaches to best communicate global youth development achievements, in collaboration with SOI Headquarters staff, Regional Offices, consultants, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage the global youth development brand, identify strategies and drive communications for the activities, in collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Create and implement an approach to maintain, leverage and track current Special Olympics youth leadership training tools and resources globally
  • Assume design, oversight, and ongoing management of all new curriculum and trainings created for youth development:
  • Collaboration with youth development headquarters team to identify new training/resource opportunities in alignment with current initiative workstreams, including Youth Innovation Grants and Lead to Include Project
  • Management of curriculum/course designers and consultants
  • Oversight of all translation efforts for youth development content
  • Drive the development of the annual Youth Development report, as well as partner impact reports
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) and 2-3 years of applicable work experience, preferably in a cross-cultural/international NGO environment
  • Strong technical writer including editing and proofreading. Experience with publication and/or reports
  • Experience on cross-cultural and multi-national teams
  • Excellent oral communication skills in English
  • Eagerness to work in global, matrixed organizations with results dependent on collaboration across departmental and geographic lines
  • Demonstrated understanding/experience of youth leadership and development
  • Strong organization skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with designing materials that are visually arresting


Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Canva or Adobe Acrobat
  • Masters degree in curriculum, instruction, and/or education
  • Experience with online curriculum and instruction
  • Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities or familiarity with Special Olympics youth engagement programming
  • Knowledge of global development, international affairs, or education research or practice in global context
  • Additional language skills
