Descripción

The Development & Engagement Coordinator provides key development and engagement support for this growing spiritual community. This role has a few key internal functions, assuring our small groups and volunteer opportunities are in alignment with our mission, closely monitoring the engagement pipeline for those who have yet to officially join the community and overseeing our development administrative tasks including gift entry and preparing and collecting necessary paperwork from donors related to their endowment and legacy giving. The D&E Coordinator will also play a key role in strengthening our team’s internal systems.

This role includes important forward-facing functions, from engaging people more deeply through small groups offerings and attending events and programs with an eye towards engagement, to speaking with people who are interested in learning more about our inclusive community. This role allows Mishkan’s overall development and engagement efforts to expand, ultimately increasing our capacity to provide inspiration, purpose and connection for more people. This role works on a team alongside the Senior Director of Development & Engagement and our Builder Experience Manager.

What You’ll Do:

Oversee Mishkan’s Small Groups (30%)

  • Oversee our affinity, demographic and topic-based groups of community members, Mishkan’s fastest-growing, broadest-serving programs
  • Consult with other departments in order to offer expertise on their small group efforts, like through our Maggie’s Place wellness center and Mensch Academy religious school
  • Identify and onboard our lay-leader small group hosts to strengthen our program offerings and better serve our community
  • Evaluate the success of small group events via post-event emails and steward a new process for small group evaluation

Monitor & Manage the Engagement Pipeline (30%)

  • Field inbound interest inquiries, and steward prospective members to the appropriate department(s) as the first-line of engagement for many prospective Mishkanites
  • Regularly analyze the demographics and groups we are serving, spotting trends and making recommendations for improvements upon our processes and offerings
  • Manage the process of personalized engagement follow-up, using existing systems and defining new ones
  • Send post-event emails through the CRM, giving folks opportunities to connect after an event has passed
  • Work closely with the Builder Experience Manager to identify potential Builders (members), occasionally making those asks

Engagement Admin & Projects (20%)

  • CRM upkeep: enter interest call notes, account tagging, input lifecycle events, send monthly Yahrzeit reminders
  • Help define our data strategy, looking for new opportunities to utilize our CRM and data in support of more sophisticated and targeted community outreach
  • Manage our ongoing community Support Squad and Shabbat Greeters, as well as High Holiday volunteer opportunities, allowing community members to serve the community in tangible and helpful ways

Development Admin & Projects (20%)

  • Mail lifecycle event follow-up letters to connect our robust lifecycle offerings (baby namings/britot, BMitzvahs, weddings) into the development process
  • Oversee gift acknowledgment process from gift entry to notifying necessary parties to occasional acknowledgment letter mailing
  • Approve daily CRM payments (including donations) and associate charges to accounts, keeping this important data clean
  • Lead bi-monthly meetings to share donation and donor outreach updates with senior rabbi, enabling senior rabbi to participate in the development lifecycle
  • Assist with endowment & legacy donor documentation

What You’ll Bring:

  • Recommended for candidates with at least 4 years of experience in people-facing or customer service roles, with some demonstrated experience in data management
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be a self-starter and handle multiple projects
  • A love of data analysis and trend-spotting
  • The art of the schmooze
  • A basic understanding of Jewish culture, traditions and holidays

Where You Work:

Hybrid work environment with our main office located at 4001 N. Ravenswood Avenue in Chicago as well as holiday and prayer service venues across Chicago.

This position requires work on Jewish holidays, the High Holidays, and Shabbatot (some Friday nights and Shabbat mornings), with a mutually agreed upon work schedule.

Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? Research shows that men apply for jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria. Systemic inequities in hiring have caused women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ folks, and others to apply to jobs only if they meet every requirement. We encourage you to break that statistic and apply, as no one ever meets 100% of the qualifications. We look forward to your application.
